It is either the photo eye is dirty or bad or the volume adjustment needs adjustment.

It would help if I knew the model of heater because there are 2 different technologies that are used in Reddy Heaters. Having more information could affect my answer.

Generally, if a heater runs with the lid off but shuts down with the lid on, its a sign that either the air pump pressure is not to specs or the nozzle is restricted or worn out. Desa International, the manufacturer, recommends annual replacement of the nozzle, but this is arguable, depending on the age of the heater.

I am pasting a document that I've had around for awhile, that may help:

"A worn nozzle creates a spray pattern, where a good nozzle creates a fog. With a coarse spray pattern poor combustion results in an off color flame, . The photocell doesn’t like the color, sends a signal to the computer which shuts everything down. That’s the job of the electronics. On HSI heaters it is all about correct flame color , not just flame.

The part where you write "If I remove the cover again it runs fine" is a symptom of a bad, worn, or restricted nozzle. Remember- the ignitor only stays red for 5 seconds, then the flame keeps itself lit. The nozzle's pattern is a cone. Lift the lid & the pattern widens (aerodynamics) - replace the lid and the cone narrows & possibly distorts then the flame goes out.

This nozzle rule will only apply if everything is correct as far as fuel delivery applies. The pump pressure must be correct- not almost correct. Set the pressure with a low-pressure gauge that registers12-15 psi max. A gauge with a higher scale just will not read close enough to satisfy the system. If the pressure is not correct, the above rule will not apply. Instructions for setting the pressure can be viewed at http://reddyparts.com/pressure.htm.

In addition, a fan can cause the same problem if damaged or mis-matched to your specific model.

I must mention that any air leaks on the pressure side (or vacuum leaks on the fuel line, for that matter) between the pump and the nozzle will create a rich/lean mixture at the combustion chamber, creating an off-color flame."

Manually Moving the Folding Top from the Down Position
Important: Allow the system a minimum of four minutes to bleed down pressure after the last cycle.
Manually release the folding top cover latch using the emergency release cable.
Raise the folding top stowage cover.
Manually raise the folding top, holding the 5 bow up.
Manually lower and latch the folding top stowage cover.

Folding Top Cover Latch Actuator
The power folding top system includes a folding top cover that is powered open and close by a hydraulic system that is controlled by the FTC module. A power unlatch motor is used to unlatch the folding top cover before the folding top control (FTC) module powers the top cover open. The folding top cover unlatching is requested by the FTC module via class 2 message, but is executed by the body control module (BCM). When requested, the BCM applies battery voltage through the folding top cover release relay control circuit to the tonneau release relay. The relay is energized and battery voltage is applied through the folding top cover release control circuit to the latch actuator. The actuator is energized and the latch releases the folding top cover.

The electronics on this are very complex ,

System Operation
Before any movement of the power folding top is allowed, the folding top control (FTC) module must be aware of the following conditions:
• Unlatch the header. The FTC module reads the pin receiver switch is Inactive.
• The windows must be normalized. Refer to Power Window Reinitialization.
• The ignition must be placed in Accessory or RUN.
• The transmission must be placed in PARK, or with manual transmission, the park brake must be applied.
• Trunk status must not be ajar.
• The luggage barrier must be in place.
• The pump motor temperature must be within the operating range.

After the last cycle of power folding top operation, allow the hydraulic system a minimum of 4 minutes to bleed down before attempting manual operation of the top.
Your best bet take and have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes .

I get a tiny shock on the outside top cover of my top load GE washer what could be the problem


FIRST, unplug the washer and thoroughly check the power cord for breaks. Secondly, if no obvious signs of a break or bad plug are found, HAVE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR TECH check the AC outlet for a broken ground wire! If the ac outlet is good, then remove the front panel by using a 2 inch putty knife, sliding it between the top cover and the front cover approx 2 inches from both sides and pushing in firmly to release the retaining clips. Pull the front cover out from the top and then off of the positioning tabs at the bottom. If you are hesitant about doing any of this, call for service! These washers leak from the central tub seal at the bottom. Water can leak down the steel shaft straight into the electric shifter. Also, if the leak is bad enough, the water can be thrown into the main drive motor(which has the main control board mounted on top of it)and cause all sorts of problems. If your unit has a tub seal leak, it is a MAJOR repair, requiring the shifter to be replaced, if water has gotten into the motor, it, too, will have to be replaced.

Need wiring diagram on compesor


The compressor has three terminals, Common, Start and Run.... The terminals read left to right, top to bottom just like pages in a book. So if theres one on top, its Common then Start will be the first one in the next row. If theres two on top, it'll be Common on the left and Start on the right then Run on the bottom.

The run capacitor wires in between Start and Run and line voltage is applied to Common and Run.

Convertable top not working motor is running but does not seem strong enough is there a way to overide the motor and open and close top manually


Open the pump bypass valve for the top to manually open/close top. Bypass valve is located in trunk on left; remove round 2" cover and turn the exposed valve anti-clockwise.
Problem of motor not moving top is likely low on pump oil. Remove cover on left in trunk and refill slowly after removing the fill plug on top of pump. Use 10w30 oil.

Your problem could be one of 2 things either the base is pushed up in the center or the front apron is bent. The apron is the piece of metal that runs across under the top cover. To remove the front cover to see either use a putty knife to release the catch between the top and the front cover and pull front outward one side at a time.

How do I replace the cooling fan in benq pe8700


There's more then one fan inside the projector. I think I counted 3 when I opened mine up. Two are easy to get to, the other is underneath. on theleft side looking from the front. You have to take off the back surround cover in onder to remove the top cover. The top cover slides back and lifts up. Be careful because there's a wire harness running to the top cover control panel. Disconnect it then you have access to the fans. Wish mine was that easy to repair.

Where are the spark plugs on my 2003 kia optima located.


trace the high tension wire that runs from the distributor. the other end should be attached to the spark plugs.

Won't run with top cover on


It is lickly that when you put the top on that the top is creating a ground (completing the circuit) which means there is no spark created

Running rough and stalls during wet weather otherwise runs fine.


Your ignition coil is cracked. Replace it with a new OEM unit.
