How to change input on tv without a remote

Which TV do you have? Some will have an Input or Source button on the front panel. A few will have an option to change the source from the menu. Both of these options require the front panel lock to be inactive.

A few older TVs allowed you to find the A/V input by pressing Channel Down on the front panel buttons until you passed channel 2 (or Channel Up until you nearly reached Channel 2). This option wouldn't work if the A/V inputs had been deleted when someone minimized going through unused channels.

If the Source or Input button was only available on the remote, you will need a universal remote that includes this feature. These cost a bit more than the lowest end remotes. Then you will have to try all of the codes to find the one that makes the Source button work with your TV. (Several codes may work for On/Off but not the change input.) The Universal remotes that can be programmed from a computer (USB connection) will be the easiest to set up. Remotes.com may have a replacement original or substitute remote for your TV that should work for all of the TV functions.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the TV make and model for specific options for your particular TV.

(low end TVs usually only had the Source/Input button on the remote.)

ProView has a bad cable connection. Other tvs hooked to the same cable don't

It could be the tuner in the set is the problem--there is since the rear inputs work fine a way to "get around this".

Get a Cable box that has the audio/video outputs on the rear and connect to one of the rear inputs on the set--want to watch cable--go to that input and use the box to change channels.

If the tuner is bad you are likely going to have to replace the entire board it is on--not cheap.

The rear inputs bypass the tuner and all the signal circuitry from it.

Also if signal routed via rear jacks you should notice a better picture and sound quality.

Tv is stuck on Video 1 and the remote is missing.Won't respond to the cable remote except on and off. HELP

Try pressing tv first on your cable remote then the video/source/input button on the cable remote. If there is no button on the television itself to switch video inputs a temporary fix for now is to connect the cable box to the video 1 female parts on your television. Buy the cables to do that if you don't have a spare set lying around. You can purchase a remote for your television with the model number from http://www.replacementremotes.com or even a Sanyo remote from a thrift store should be able to allow you to switch inputs.

I can't get the TV to input to watch my cable. I no longer have the remote and have gone through and saved every channel but still cannot locate the input channel.

Most tvs won't let you switch to imput without the remote, you could try looking under the menu on the tv but if it not there then I would suggest you buy a universal remote. Or a lot of cable remotes allow you to program them to the tv.

I have a visco TV and I cannot get it off of channel 1. The remote does not work so I bought a universal remote but it still won't work. I tried to codes for NEC and Polariod as suggested by others,...

There should be channel buttons on the TV itself, try using those. Also, you may want to try changing the input from the Cable Box.
I am curious as to why the remotes don't work. Also, how did it get onto channel one. Did you get the TV used?
Here is a link to the AV Science Forum. It seems other people have challenges with this TV as well.

I use my cable company remote for everything but tirning tv on off and volume.I hit a button on the tv remote, channel up I think, and have nothing on the screen but blue. How do i fix this?

Sounds like the input has been changed - if you dont have the original remote - find the input button on your tv and press it until you get back to your input that the cable is going in to .

Thanks,

Same problem as above.Disney p1310ATV lost the remote. No Phone # in orginial manual.Television system NTSC (American TV Standard) I have tried other universal remotes also I have a Sony RM-V210 universal...

there may be a problem with the tvs remote sensor. most universal remotes you dont even have to enter any codes you just have to follow the same steps to enter the code but instead of entering a code all you have to do is press the channel up button after following all other steps, just keep pressing up until it turns the channel on the tv then press enter or similar button after it changes the channel and this should lock in the code without entering a specific code. And if all other remotes only half the buttons work on if it happens with every universal remotes then it probably a problem with the remote sensor or the tv . Good luck too ya!!!

Without the code, you must get an original remote and press the "QV" and the "9" buttons together to unlock the TV.
