Western Digital WD2500JB (WD Caviar SE) external hard drive died.

It "clicks," and will not open. The message, "You may not be authorized to use this drive...." or some such thing appears.

Can this drive be repaired, or contents recovered?

Generally drives that "click" and give access errors are not recoverable by ordinary (consumer capability) methods. What has happened in most cases is the "servo track" that contains the underlying data required to access the drive has become worn-out or damaged. The best way to avoid this is to not jolt the drive when spinning, and more importantly - BACK UP YOUR DATA on a regular basis! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I recover several drives a week, but have to send off most "clickers" for professional lab recovery, which can be VERY expensive ($400-$2000+up).

I looking for a pcb boad for hd western digital

That would be on another WD2500JB Caviar harddrive

Either that, or start looking on the internet posting -
WD2500JB PCB Board, and see what search hits come up.

Here,.....let me try.............

http://www.hdd-parts.com/18100096.html

Before you replace it, let me ask........
1) Was it in a Desktop PC?

2) Was it in an external harddrive?

External harddrive?
Then suggest you obtain a 3.5 IDE (PATA) external enclosure,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3883498&CatId=2780

In an external harddrive there is a small interface circuit board.

The Harddrive plugs into the small interface circuit board, and the USB cable is attached to the small interface circuit board.

It is this small interface circuit board that usually goes bad.

The external enclosure is just like the case of the external harddrive.
Has a USB cable going to a small interface circuit board, and the harddrive plugs into it.

I have a WD 2500JB hard drive and I cannot get it to recognize the computer. Once I plug it into the computer....nothing.

Does the drive make any sounds, even a spinning up sound? Are you using it in an external case or just inside your computer?
Also, is this a drive you've been using and you have data on it, or is it a new drive?

I have no power to the drive i think the power has burnt out a smell of burning came from the unit how can i change the case

If it is an "external" drive, you can open the casing, remove the disk-drive, and "transplant" the disk-drive into a new, "empty", enclosure (about $30 at any computer-store).

If it is an "internal" drive, you'll have to find an identical disk-drive, split the "electronic" circuit-board from the "spinning" part, on both drives, and then connect the "good" circuit-board to your disk-drive.

Then, you can access your files.

I want this one WD2500JB

That is an old drive. No need to buy an exact replacement since that one is so old. Any hard drive will do. If your BIOS supports a larger drive, you can get an even higher capacity drive to replace it.

My WD External Hard drive was working

Get a new case for the drive. Empty cases can be had from any store that sells computer parts.

My WD2500JB stopped working. Makes a click-click-click sound.

Your hard drive is bad. If you are hearing clicking reptitiously it is you head not moving. Sorry about the bad news.

WD2500JB hard drive not recognize. Stop working

It's possible that the controller board on the underside of the drive has failed.
