To replace the work light bulb on your Tappan 73-3951-23 over and under range, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the range or turn off the circuit breaker to disconnect power.
2. Locate the light cover shield on the underside of the range hood.
3. Press the clip on the left side of the cover and pull down to remove the shield.
4. Remove the light bulb by turning it counterclockwise.
5. Install a new 40-watt appliance bulb by turning it clockwise.
6. Replace the light cover shield by sliding it up into place until it clicks.
7. Plug in the range or turn on the circuit breaker to restore power.

Note: Be sure to use a 40-watt appliance bulb for replacement.

Page five, illustration 13, shows that the retainer clip is turned 90 degrees to release the filter, turned back to retain the replacement.

Here's a cut and paste of the manual:

"FILTERS
40000, 42000 & 42000D Hoods Only:
Remove aluminum filter by turning filter retainer to
one side. (FIG. 13) Filter should be washed once a
month in a hot detergent solution. Aluminum filters
are dishwasher safe. When installing filter, make sure
that filter slides under retaining tabs on back of fan
housing. Turn filter retainer so that arrows on retainer
point toward front and back of hood."

The model number should be listed inside the door area or inside the storage door area on the bottom of the unit.

Turn off the key and remove.
Open hood and release fuel pressure at the rail with the schrader type valve.
Don't use a bulb type trouble light under there as it can ignite gas easily.
Pry off the old clips after loosening the hold-down clamp. Turn head away as you slide off the hose on the tank side of filter.
Install new filter in holder,attach hoses and install new clips then tighten hold-down clamp. (:^)

I am not familiar with you particular model Viking. However, filters are normally simple to remove. They either have a spring clip retainer (visable or hidden), slide in a track or have a small screw in one or the other or both sides.

Try sliding the filter side to side to see if the retainer spring is hidden. If the filter moves 1/4 inch or so, it should come out easily.

For Tappan stove model 30-3053-23-02.

Each burner (4) is mounted to the stove top with three 4.5mm hex screws. All 12 screws must be removed, which is easier said than done. In my case, of the 12, 6 heads snapped off. The other 6 heads had to be drilled out. The metal is very hard (tempered from long exposure to high heat?), so use a carbide/diamond high-speed drill bit (1/8" or 3/16").

The front corners of the stove top are each held by a clip. After removal of the burner mount screws (or heads at least), lift straight up on each front corner of the stove top to release the top from the clip. An alternate method is to use a screwdriver as a lever to pry the corner off the clip. Once released from the clips, the front pulls up, while the back is "hinged" (like lifting an auto hood). Using a stubby phillips screwdriver, unscrew one of the back hinges. At this point, the stove top can be lifted off.

If you are fortunate, the burners were unmounted by simply removing the screws. But if they broke off or had to be drilled out, it seems the best thing to do is just purchase new burner assemblies ($20-$30 each). In either case, also buy new screws specifically for mounting the burners.

Check the door lock switch/solenoids. You'll have to unplug the range/stove. Remove the solenoid and check to see if it has continuity or if the solenoids are stuck.
You also might have luck resetting the clean cycle. Even though the lock is engaged, try to open the oven door a little. Start the clean cycle, then cancel it.
