Can I replace a tv Control box on my polaroid tv my self

The problem with getting this for a Polaroid TV is there are several version of the set. They used a mixed versions of panels and what they call control boxes. To make sure of which control box you need for your TV you have to have a technician look at the TV and then sometimes there is no guarantee you will get the correct part for your TV. The control boxes run around 500.00 so it might be less expensive to replace the set. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks..

If you replaced the metal box located on the backside of unit and nothing changed. Send it back for a refund because your problem is most likely the video control board located top center of panel. If you replace that and problem remains its the panel.

First thing, I would try and locate a board if that's what you want to replace. 90% of that module is non servicable.( must be replaced )

You may be able to program your cable box remote to control your TV in addition to your cable box. When they initially set up your cable box they probably left a pamphlet giving you instructions on how to program your remote. I'm not sure why you can't change the TV channels manually but this may give you a work-around.

I have fixed many polaroids, the problems is most of the parts are contained in one self contained control box. it sounds like your power board is not funtioning. contact polaroid and let them know about your problem and see if you can get a new control panel. the contol panel only has one connection and 3 screws to replace. hope this helps.

Hi i am authorized repair center for polaroid. there are two ways this could be fixed. there are two capacitors that go bad in power supply that could be one fix caps will lookpuffedout, c112c113.

The other repair is replacing what is called the control box that is the guts of tv , it is simple to replace for a mechanical person. But the control box is expensive cost is 350..
To replace the caps you should be a repair tech cost is around 150to 200 to fix ,

Not a good problem, Polaroid units have a control box that contains the main bd, power supply and av bd. When the unit fails you must replace the entire control box as you cannot buy individual parts for this unit. Try the Vance Baldwin or Andrews electronic site for part information.
