There are 2 types of volume in your nokia phone that you can increase or decrease.
The first one is the ring tone volume. You can either increase or decrease your ring tone volume by pressing the menu key then go to settings, go to profile, select any desired profile go to personalise go to ringing volume, then increase or decrease by using the navigation button to the right or left.
The second way is to increase or decrease the volume of the speaker of your phone which i think is the cause of your question (this volume enables you to hear clear and loud the person on the other phone). You increase or decrease the volume by making a call, as soon as the call starts ringing, press the navigation key to right to increase the volume or to the left to decrease the volume.
The correct answer is that it isn't possible to increase the speaker volume of the Nokia 1661. It is designed to be inaudible unless you use the ear bud supplied with the unit. This unfortunately makes it about as useful as an IPod or a Walkman (remember those?) for making and receiving telephone calls. But you can send and receive text messages with the 1661--if your fingers are small enough to key using the tiny keypad it provides.

hi, i take it the phone you have got is the one in the picture, well all you need to do is make a call so call your answering service or some free number then once the call is connected take the phone away from you ear but leave the call going ok, now you see the silver square well all you need to do is either press the up button or press the right button, you can only turn the sound up and down whilst on a call, you cant turn it up and down if your not on a call thats why i said call a number that you done need to talk to anyone then that way you can take the phone away from your ear and then press the buttons,, when you press either the up button or the right button on the silver square part you should see the volumne bar come on the screen and you can then turn it up or down.
