I am trying to reformat my compaq presario. it was taking two of the discs now it won't take any. I don't know what I did wrong. this is my first time refomatting a computer.

YOU CAN'T FORMAT C:\ ARE THAT ONLY ONE DRIVE AND WINDOWS ARE ON IT IT'S IMPOSSIBLE.YOU ONLY CAN MAKE PARTITONS.

the only way to format is using the CD,before formatting download the network drive from HP so the you can download other softwares after formatting

Lost Windows password:

• Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode.
  
• Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  
• Reformat computer.
  
• Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html
  
• There is a free boot CD called Hirens. This one command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/
  

Do you still have your Operating System installer like windows? If yes, follow the error's instruction to repair itself. Or if you don't have your installer, buy a new installer and reformat your Compaq Presario

If you made a Backup disc from the OS itself, insert it into your DVD drive and restart computer. When prompted the BIOS screen, press Delete and make sure that the DVD boots first. When it boots into the DVD, follow the on screen instructions. If you dont have this disc, reformat your computer using the non-Compaq Windows 7 DVD and install it as you would on any other normal PC, and let the Win7 find the updates and drivers online for you.

You will need to use either the recovery disc or windows installation cd to do the format.

Reformat the hard drive first using. Take VISTA off.

you just have to reformat the drive again. do not partition if possible. reformat and clean the disc as well. that should do it.

I wanna ask one thing, does your compter show CD/DVD drive in My Computer menu? If yes, then its hardware of DVD/CD drive problem, not a virus. Clean the lens of drive with fine cotton swab, hope it works/ reads.
