I installed a new bulb in a Sony Wega KDF-46E2000 and now there is a red bar at the top of the screen and a blue bar at the bottom. what could this be? and can it be fixed?

The Optical Block is causing the problem. It has been a common problem and Sony may still have a recall on it. You can check it a 1800-222-sony. If it is not still covered, I would expect to spend 800.00 to 900.00 for the assembly plus 250.00 labor for a professional to replace it.

you will want to look through your user guide for a error count reset you have to let the tv know that the new hardware has been installed by doing this or restoring factory default via your user guide
