There are lots of different USB cables, not a real standardized piece. Try the USB that came with the camera or buy one that has your model listed. I have many and they all are specific to their models, some charge but dont sync, while others sync but dont charge, and some just dont do anything.

Batteries wear out quickly

most cameras use alot of energy so it could be normal but you may be using batteries that dont put out enough voltage. your rechargeable batteries may be wearing out (as they all eventually do). i suggest trying out duracells. the computer may have just reconized the old camera so it knew what to do but since you got a new one, your computer doesnt reconize it.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Olympus SP-350 USB Device Not Reconized

Hi

You have to take out the card before you switch on the camera. Switch on the camera and then put in the card. Then it works

Downloading photos

Hi, Most present day digital cameras are recognizable by a Windows PC as an external removable drive. You have to connect the camera using a USB cable (in some case, a firewire cable) to any of the USB ports of your computer. Give your machine a second or two to recognize and auto-install the needed drivers/software. The PC normally auto displays content of the camera (now recognized as possibly drive "E" or something). Thereafter it is a matter of copy/paste or drag-0n-drop to your preferred folder in your PC (more often My Pictures inside My Documents). Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turnedout or should you need furtherinformation. Good luck and kind regards.

Unable to view downloaded photos on camera screen

I had a Camedia 560 and it had this problem. Take a picture and then look at your memory card or camera from the computer. I think you will see that there is a complicated structure of folders - the pictures are in one folder and there is some kind of index file in another folder. The camera cannot display pictures restored from the computer unless you restore the index files as well as the picture files. Sorry I can't remember the details, but one way to do it would be to copy every last thing on the memory card. Not very convenient. This is a design flaw - my new camera doesn't have the problem and will display any picture I copy to it provided it was taken on the camera and not rotated or cropped. It doesn't mind other editing like putting a caption in the photo with a paint program. Panasonic Limix.
