Hp pavillion a1253w-power light (green)flashes and computer will not turn on. I removed all connections to power supply, then replaced one by one. The light did not flash, but the computer did not power up either. Further, when the main power (P1) supply to the mother board was connected the light flashed and the computer will not turn on. Is this a mother board problem? Please help.

If you didn't accidentally unplug the four pin connector near the CPU, you need to replace the power supply. This is actually a fairly common occurrence with the cheap ATX power supplies being tossed into systems these days.
IF the battery is bad the charge lndicator on the laptop will flash (But not periodically) it will be a constant on-off-on-off..... Best check would be to remove the battery completely and use the adapter/charger power supply only. If it still does not turn on then you either have a bad power jack connection or a more serious motherboard problem. Also is the green light flashing on the adapter/charger or is it the charge/battery indicator on the laptop?
Most computer testing facilities will test your current power supply for free. A replacement is very inexpensive to replace. Bestbuy, MicroCenter, small computer shops and buy replacemnent from Amazon.com, newegg.com.. Just make sure you have the correct information for your replacement. The model number on the power supply would be your best bet in most cases. Good luck and have a great day. I buy power supplies as low as $15 dollars Generic
I just went through a heap of troubleshooting with power supply issues before swapping psu's and finding this was the solution to my problem. Had a closer look at my psu that was faulty, the green light was flashing on the psu, unplugged all components and thought that I now had a non-flashing green light on my psu, on closer inspection the light was actually flashing very fast so appeared to be an almost solid light...the psu was stuffed so replaced it and no more issues. If your power supply has a green light check to see if it is flashing when plugged into voltage with nothing connected to it. If it is a solid light then it is probably ok.
Remove the card and install again making sure it goes all the way in..( and/or installing on another slot.. Make sure theres no hair or dust goes in the slot..
If problem persist,
1. You probably need to access bios n configure/enable the pci ports..
2. The power supply is insufficient.
The described problem might not be the Power Supply Unit, there are a number of different reasons that may cause this symptom. Consulting HP would be advisable.
