This is an international collection of chainsaw enthusiasts with a few 2-cycle mechanics and saw retailers thrown in. They are a good bunch and I am certain someone can help.

I did not see any Homelite (most makers have one) thread but did find this:

What spark plug to use in super xl auto mine doesn't seem to have enough power .

About .030". Remove the muffler if you can and look to see if the piston is all scored up. You may be using garbage gas or mix oil as well.

Need to find contact breaker points gap on super XL automatic chainsaw serial no 50832357 (old chainsaw)

Hi marie hourig...

Set your gap between .18 and .20...if you do not have a feeler gauge to get the clearance right, then you can use a paper match book cover...it is approximatly the same thickness as you need.

I have an old homelite super xl saw and what i need to know is the high and low adjustments as well as spark plug gap

For the high and low speed jets turn all the way in and turn counter clockwise 1 1/4 turns to start with and continue a bit more until the saw runs a max speed(go by ear) and idling speed(idle down enough so chain does not spin while finger off triger). For the spark plug gap, go about 20 thousands of an inch. I hope this helps you out.

I have a cs 4000 ser 00135 series that I am unable to get a spark... I replaced the coil, magneto, plug, flywheel is good... is there a ground somewhere that I am missing?

The ignition switch or it's wire to the magneto might be worth looking at. Remove the switch connection from the magneto to see if you can get spark. The switch grounds the magneto circuit when it is set to 'off'. Good luck!
