9 times out of 10 when customers come in and their laptops won't turn on the battery was run down so low the motherboard stays partially on and will won't turn on or off. Try removing the battery, holding down the power button with nothing plugged in, then reseat the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and try turning on the computer. If this doesn't work, check your AC adapter make sure all your connections are tight.

Common causes of not powering on... Ac Adapter has a broken connection, DC Jack on the laptop is broken/loose causing the unit not to get consistent power, or a bad motherboard.

How to clean the fan air

Regular maintenance of your Compaq Presario laptop helps to keep the machine running properly.

Keeping the fans clean is especially important, because the fans blow out hot air and bring in fresh air to cool down the laptop.

Fans attract dust, however, which can slow them down, resulting in a hot laptop.

If the laptop overheats, vital parts can cease functioning altogether.

Consequently, keeping your laptop's fans clean is crucial.

or Remove an HP Presario C500 Fan Assembly to clean it

HP Presario C500 is a laptop that, like most other laptops, requires a clean, functioning fan in order to work properly.

If your fan is too full of dust to function properly or needs to be replaced because it is no longer working, then your computer could be in danger of overheating and crashing.

Instead of having to purchase a new laptop because your C500's fan has failed, remove it and clean the fan or replace it with a new one.

Turn off your computer and unplug all the cords and cables from it, even the power cable.

Turn the laptop over and remove the battery, then remove all the screws at the bottom of the computer with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Remove the two face plates from the bottom of the computer and you'll see the hard drive and RAM below.

The face plates will come out easily once the screws are removed.

Remove the two screws holding the hard drive in place and then lift the hard drive out.

Remove the screw found directly below the hard drive.

Turn the laptop over again and pop off the keyboard.

If all the screws at the bottom of the computer where removed, then the keyboard will come right out.

Remove all the screws underneath the keyboard and case and then lift the case enough to access the fan assembly in your HP Presario C500.

Unhook the cable coming from the fan into the motherboard and remove the screws holding the fan in place, then pop the fan out of the computer.

Hope this helps

Comp will not turn on also see lightning bolt display

Hi All,

This happens because of static energy storing in the motherboard components.

We can try power drain to resolve this issue.

Try doing power drain by taking out the battery & keep holding down the power button for complete one minute to drain out the power from the computer components. Restart the computer after putting the battery in.
Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa.

That should resolve the issue, if the issue persists, then you have to contact service center.

Hope that information helped you!!
