Panasonic TV Tube type TX-32PD30. Loud bang - power gone to all adjacent items but main consumer-unit LCB stayed on. Replaced local fuse (5Amp mini cartrige, well burned both ends) all other items back on but TV stayed dead: no standby light and no reaction to on/off button or to remote control Can I check the tube - do I take off the whole back? Is ther an internal fuse or LCB to protect against surges? There is a slot in the back (above the antenna socket & power lead, roughly L shaped) - is this to insert a blade to push a reset button (or similar) inside? Many thanks AA Arnold

Turns off

If it is not allowing the a/c to turn on I would check the infrared eye to make sure it is clear. Then make sure there is power to the unit. 24v and 120v. There may be a fuse on the 24v side, usually 2-5amp looks like a car fuse but may be a small glass fuse. Make sure there is power through it. If there are there and it is still not working sorry to say but your board is shot and will need to be replaced.

TV turned on, heard loud pop. Now screen is very dark.

It sounds like the actual tube / lamp inside the unit has exploded. You will need to either get it repaired at a local TV repair shop or replace the TV. Unfortunately with that unit it is probably cheaper to just replace it.

Not sure if its a picture tube problem or convergence problem. TV was working fine, put a DVD on pause, came back 10 minutes later and poof! Distorded picture almost 3D like. Shut it off and when it came...

Check the micro fuses that power the convergence board, one or two maybe open, While doing this also resolder the flyback transfomer and area around it. Check for cold solder joints in this area as well.
Replace any open fuse with 5amp same type. If fuse are good then convergence power board is faulty and needs serviceing or replaced.

Panasonic #ct32hc43g; no power when power button pushed(yes its' plugged in and the plug works fine with other electic items )

There are many causes for this set to have no power, if you get no red light at all a common fault is the 6.3 amp main fuse blowing in this set. It is because the timing unit for the degaussing coil has changed over time and is staying on just a little to long causing the fuse to blow. A technician will put a 7 amp fuse in as a replacement, Do not use a fuse of any higher value or you will have a fire hazard. If the 7 amp fuse blows then you either have another power related issue or the timming unit has gone way out of tolarance and need changed.

If you have no experience inside of a tv, and don't understand the hazards of electrical shock even with the tv unplugged i would not attempt to open the set up and do this yourself.
A service call from a technician could run around $100.00.
