Oven jjw9527aab fan runs continuously even when cool and now shows F2 alarm message

The oven has internal fan at back of oven encircling the element that should get reshot when stat turned up high. Also there is cooling fan under lid to keep the wiring area cool.This should stay on for around ten - fifteen minutes after cooking finished. David "The Famous Forry"

This web site had a manual that may answer you question. It seems that here is a heat/cool switch. The cool switch is designed to function to cool the oven down by running the fan with the door open. If you close the door, it will heat so the door has to stay open.

Some ovens fan will run too cool oven down when oven is switched off

Without knowing the make and model, this is a guess, the fans usually run for some time after switch off, to allow cooling I am guessing this carries on until you isolate the mains. If so you have a thermostat problem. It would be easier to de-fine if there were more information.

If the cooling fan is constantly running then means thermal overload probably faulty, it has failed in closed position.

Note: Also see fan thermal switches Indicates that oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either a cooking or clean mode of operation.
· Control senses oven temperature above 650 degrees F with the door circuit in the unlock mode.
· Control senses oven temperature above 935 degrees F with the door in the locked mode.
· Stalled cooling fan or airflow problem. · Look for welded relay contacts. (Heating elements on in off mode).
· Look for open thermal switch in lock motor circuit. Switch is normally closed and will open if area overheats due to fan not operating. Look for cause - fan thermal switch not closing, fan stalled, etc.
· Look for high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit due to high contact resistance (poor terminal crimp, deformed terminals, loose connection) or intermittent solder joint on control or intermittent oven temperature sensor.
· Look for electrical noise interference in the oven temperature sensor circuit (Ham radio, cordless phone, etc.).

The fan is in place to cool the electronics it will run after the unit is off it is possible you have a bad sensor on the fan circuit leaving it to run too long

I have the the same problem as discribed above. Does you oven fan go on for a long time after you use your oven during regular baking. Mine seems to stay on for 45 minutes after I bake anything. Can this be all tied together with the f2 problem? I am wondering if it is not just a fan circulation problem?

F2 typically means an overtemperature condition. The cause could be welded relay contacts,a stalled or blocked cooling fan, blocked air flow to the rear of the unit or high resistance in the oven sensor leads or connectors. Check to see if there is any accumulation of dust bunnies in the fan. Do you remember if the fan has been running? There could also be a bad thermal switch. This tells the fan when to turn on and off. Unless you have some technical expertise, you may not feel comfortable checking on some of these causes. Be sure and turn off the power before poking around the wires and connectors in the top of the oven. There is usually a sheet of trouble shooting instructions in the top section of your oven which will give you some assistance. Good Luck.
