My router seems to work fine with both of my windows 7 computers but, when I enter the ip adress in my browser, the utility does not display correctly and I can't manage the router. Are there updated...
1. check the manual to see if you have the correct IP address to log into the router: that is 192.168.1.1
2. here is the Linksys knowledge base page that will give you more information about your router. firmware updates can be obtained via the router.
3. you may have to set the router to " factory default" using the software that came with the router.

Try googling windows 7 drivers for the name of your sound card
You can find the name of it, in "device manager", under "properties" of "my computer"
Usually though vista drivers work with windows 7

Or you can open windows update, and see if there is any "optional" updates
There might be listed a sound driver for your windows 7

Another option is download "Driver Genius" free version
Lets you see what drivers you need, however you need to pay to actually download the drivers

You can just copy the name of the driver and google it yourself

1. check the compatibility list for Windows 7
2. check the manufacturer's site for firmware updates for your router.
3. try moving the router . If the router is near a cordless phone or microwave move it 6 to 8 ft away from this device.
4. go to http://support.dlink.com to download the latest firm ware update.
from the manual :
Click on the link in this screen to find out if there is an updated firmware; if so, download the new firmware to your hard drive.
After you have downloaded the new firmware, click Browse in this window to locate the firmware update on your hard drive. Click Save Settings to complete the firmware upgrade.

Netgear MR814 and windows 7 issues
There shouldn't be any issues with the router as a result of Windows 7. The Router does not interact with the computer in such a way as to cause incompatibility like with hardware or software.
That said, what could be causing issues may be out of date WiFi card drivers. Windows 7 has an incredible driver database and I have only come across a handful of things it doesn't detect. But sometimes even with the things it does pick up, a better driver is available.

You should run Windows Update by going to Start (2252758.gif), All Programs, and then Windows Update. If not already set up, you should click change settings on the left and make sure all recommended updates are received like important updates. This way you will get all updates available, including hardware updates.

If this does not seem to improve the situation I will be posting a How To on properly configuring your Netgear router. This will ensure your settings are set to their most optimal settings.

Hi! There will be a problem with the wireless connection. I suggest before you go to windows 7, check at your router website if there is a new update for the firmware for windows 7.
