Both two parallel ports do not work together - Matsonic MS9317E Motherboard

It would be better to use the USB to do this since Parallel ports are almost obsolete in today's computers. If you have an open expansion port you could put a parallel port card in the computer no problem but why would you want to? I would have to have a much better understanding of what you where trying to do to give you any other advice about Parallel vs USB vs FireWire. I have seen app's that use the serial port and parallel port as you are mentioning but these are tools for doing dead PC diagnostics and even most of those use the serial port because of the improves Bidirectional abilities for data flow.

This scanner is an old one so it has only parallel port. You can connect it to any USB with the converter you mentioned and should be working. Did you connect the power supply at the scanner too? It is nesessary for the scanner in order to take power.

can you try check what the bios settings for lpt1 are first?
You should have SPP or standard / ECP or EPP etc.

The dongle only works with a standard parallel port, not a USB parallel port adapter, It may be possible that a PCI parallel adapter card will work with the dongle. Check it first with the supplier and or software supplier of Designer 1.

You can only print to a 412 with a parallel cable. You can not use the USB port, That is for software upgrades.
You can go to Xerox.com, click on support and drivers, then in the search enter wcp412, click search then click Downloads and drivers, DOwnload both the PCL Print Driver and also its good to have control center on your computer.
The print driver is all you need to have to print ot the machine once you have the parallel port connected. When you select the driver and it starts loading you want to load it to a LPT1 port.

The 1220P (P = Parallel) does not have a USB port and Windows XP does not support it.

The printer is installed on the PC using a specific port. If it's installed on the USB port, it won't work on the parallel port. Do you have this printer installed 3 different times? Need more details such as how was it installed the first time? And if it's working on the other 2 ports, why does it have to work on the parallel?

I am currently using this print server with the HP Laserjet 1100 on the parallel port and it works flawlessly.
