Yes, the printer Lexmark X83 can be used with Windows XP & Vista. You have to go to lexmark.com or go to the windows site for the firmware & driver update.

Unfortunately, Microsoft locks OEM copies of the Windows OS to a specific motherboard and CPU. Replacing the motherboard will cause this problem. If you had only added more memory, this wouldn't be an issue.
If you put in the new motherboard because the old one failed, you might be able to get Microsoft to reauthorize the license or give you a new one. As far as I know, you will have to call MS support and see what happens. (If you had the Full install version of Windows, you could move it to another machine/motherboard without the issue when the other computer isn't available.) If MS doesn't authorize the code, you will probably need to buy a new license of your version of Windows. (Windows 7 Home Premium OEM is $99; the full version would be $189. Other versions of Windows will be more expensive.)
One option is to find a member of a Windows User's Group or Technet subscriber who has licenses and install discs for various versions of the Windows OS. They may be willing to give you one of their extra licenses. This is very useful if your computer has an older version of Windows OS and you do not want to change OS versions. (Not all older computers can support a newer OS due to driver issues.)
Older programs can usually be run in Windows 7 using compatibility mode.

Gmail is an online email client. You needn't update anything for a new version of this service. Simply login to the website at www.gmail.com and you will be returned with any updated version of the website.
Yes - as your OS is litle bit older now but MSN has released new version - so system checks online finding there is new version of MSN. You forward and download latest MSN or allow update windows - new version of MSN will be installed - you may work fine there.
