Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

OK, here's the problem - Samsung model RB1955SH - plug refrig in it cools both frig and freezer to desired settings - however, once system reaches stttings and turns off compressor, will not restart system as internal temps rise. If I unplug the frig and then reinsert plug to socket, sytems start up and takes the frig and freezer back to the set temps. What's up?

These problems are common on the Artica Profile Models. I will be here to help you repair if you should choose, Thanks Sea Breeze

I just bought a used magic chef model# ctb1925grw & it has been plugged in for about 4 hours & the freezer is getting close to the desired temp (0) but the refrigerator is still not cold at all....

This was the control for the refrigerator. There is an air vent that comes from the freezer that this controls. If this air vent is closed off then most of the air will stay in the freezer. You may be able to take it apart and see if you can manually open the vent coming from the freezer to the refrigerator. Once you do this it should be ok.

Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

Refrig compartment does not cool on my new Kemore Frig.

Check and make sure the fan in the freezer is running. if not possible bad fan. If fan is running, check to see if you have any ice built up on back freezer wall. Normally frost type ice. If so, you may possibly have a bad defrost bi-metal mounted in the freezer section. Next could be a defrost timer control. Model number usally will help more in getting it right.

I have a Jenn-Air side by side frig. The freezer side cools too cold, the frig side not enough. 2 weeks ago I took all the food out of freezer and noticed ice build up on back. I unplugged unit, let it...

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem.
There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

My refrig. wont cool

It sound like your defrost system has a problem and each time you unplug, the frost goes away and thefrig works ok until frost builds up again. Yoou need to see if it is defrost timer, defrost coil, or defrost thermostat. Now you need to be a good tech person to find each item and know how to test each part. I'll tell you the coil and stat are in the back of the freezer compartment, the timer is either under the frig(front) or in the frig compartment near the cold control. goodluck, macgivor

I have a Domestic 2804 frig in my RV, The freezer works great but the frig part will not cool at all, can you help

All cooling takes place in the freezer. The refrig/fresh food side is a parasite, depending on cold air circulation from the freezer side. The fan in the freezer provides that circulation, and usually the freezer control setting determines how much air is moved into the refrig side.
If the fan is up to speed and the both controls are set in a middle position, the refrig side should be fine. if the problem continues, replace evaporator fan motor or clear the blockage preventing circulation (usually frost build-up from a defective defrost system part or blocked defrost drain).

Amana refrigerator warm

Chances are if they are getting cool but not cold-

1) the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running
2) Defrost heater has failed
3) Defrost sensor has failed
4) Defrost timer/refrigerator control has failed.

Check for ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is ice, unplug or turn the unit off for 6-8 hours with the doors open (put any food in a cooler with ice to maintain). Note water may come out of the refrigerator.
Plug the unit back in or turn it back on, close the doors, and check temperature after a couple of hours of operation. If all OK, you will need to have the above tested, or, if you know how to use a multimeter and can read a schematic/wiring diagram, I can instruct you on how to check the above.

My whirlpool refrig wont cool down the freezer.

Reach into your freezer and feel the back wall. If it is VERY cold then likely your freezer coils are frozen over which prevents the unit from cooling properly. There is also a Defrost thermostat that helps control freezer temp that you'll need to have checked. This is a last resort but if it's a newer frig, the computer control board would be the culprit if the others are OK.

Refrigerator won't get cold

hi!, if you did not turn on the thermostat by turning it clockwise and set on highier setting, it will not getting cold. 1hr is enough to test if the unit is in good condition.
