I have the JVC DVD/VCR HR-XVC11B recorder combo. I hooked up all the wires correctly (according to the manual), turned it on with the remote to VCR, clicked 'set-up' and nothing happened. Now what?
I read the instruction manual one more time. It said to tune my TV to Video and voila, the VCR worked. All JVC VCR's seem to need the tv tuned to Video to play back. I had an older JVC VCR and I had to do the same thing with it. Thanks anyway.

If you suffer from region code troubles, you can download a region free DVD player software tool on your pc and then you can play discs of any regions you want. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a free Blu-ray player and a region free player.
When the unit was new in USA, it retailed for around $550USD which at the current foreign exchange rate is about $542 (approximate). According to one forum, many people are advising that you steer clear of this 2004/05 model! It doesn't last. They have had numerous problems with this model.
I personally would not recommend that anyone bother with this particular model at all. Buy a better brand (it does not have to be new or terribly expensive). JVC products over the past few years have been less than reliable.
I got mine on-line, though I've forgotten where. Do a search using "JVC DR-MV1 manual". If all else fails, I could send you a copy, The pdf size is 8196 kb.
