Yes it is fixable but t do not try to open it being costly . get it repaired from the authorised service centre only

Please replace the battery with recommended one

Some camcorders have only an external battery charger. You may need to purchase an aftermarket charger for your camera or a dedicated charger from your local Sony dealer.

It looks like your taking it to a authorized Sony service center

PLease try look on google. On internet you can find almost everything.
Tipe LCD sony DCR-SR42 and see what you can find. Good luck

probably this could cause bcoz of the moisture.
after starting. try to separate the shutter manually...
your handycam needs cleaning.

I think AC power charger of your camera got defective first and later on battery lost its charge so no power for camera now to power up.
Try to borrow same charged battery from friend. neighbors etc and test your camera.
If camera power up, it is sure that charger has gone and you need new one.
