I have the kenmore HE2 front loader. when you turn it on now water comes pouring out of the detergent filling compartment and flooded the house... any ideas

sounds like the hose from the soap dispenser to the tub is blocked. might need the repairman for this one. anything you might try sticking in there to clean or clear it may damage it. also watch what kind of detergent and amount you are using. can cause problems.

Sounds like dispenser in stopped up and water from fill valve has no where to go.

Some times this happens if you are not using he2 detergent. This is sepical detergent for front loaders.

Make sure that you are using high efficiency (he) detergent. Pour 2 cups of vinegar in the tub and fill the detergent tray with vinegar. Run it on the hottest, longest cycle. You can also use a Front load cleaner such as Afresh, made by Whirpool. I think that Tide makes one too. Vinegar is usually readily available. At the end of washing for the day, leave the door to the washer slightly open so that fresh air can get in and dry it out keeping moldy, milduey smell down. If it mildews, use a rag and bleach water to clean the boot seal. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately - some repairs are expensive (labor wise) and not financially sound to repair.

There is a rubber hose that connects dispenser housing to outer tub of washer. Disconnect hose at outer tub and fish out article of clothing that has wedged itself in there cuasing water to back up and pour out of dispenser. In the future use a linen bag for small articles of clothing such as underwear and socks.

ckd the line from dispenser into tub start inside tub first look for clothing caught at inlet point pull dispenser drawer out and ck from dispenser end may try pouring water in from that end also if happen to use dry detergent an undisolved lump may be caught somwhere in between

That is the filter compartment that you accessed. I believe ( and you can verify ) that there is a short hose with a cap next to that filter that you can extend to control the drain off into a container or two. If you haven't cleaned the filter for a long time, there is a good chance that it is blocked up with junk that limits the system from draining properly. I had that problem myself. Also, these front loaders use HE detergent and Ihad been filling the detergent cup up to the mark but you because these use very little water during the wash cycle I was advised to use only a few drops... Yes drops.. and I have been and clothes come out just as clean. maybe even a bit less if you buy X2 or X3 HE detergent. Hope my bad experience with this helps you...

Inside the dispenser drawer, at the bottom there is a tab that you can push down to remove the dispenser drawer. Remove the drawer and check if the dispenser holes are clogged, this is a common cause.

After searching the internet we discovered that if you slide your fingers in between the metal drum and rubber seal under the soap dispenser area you may find the problem. We had a sock blocking the water inlet. Problem solved! This machine is going to give us a lot of headaches but thanks to the internet we may be able to continue to save money fixing it ourselves.

FYI, I find if you leave the door open a crack after each wash... you avoid the mold smell as well!
