Yes, but the wattage numbers are pure marketing and have no bearing in reality or fact. In general, given realistic amplifier power specifications, a higher-powered amp will be a better and safer power source for any given speaker than an under-powered amp since the latter will probably have to go into severe distortion to produce the same loudness a high-powered amp can provide cleanly. Distortion kills speakers.
