Well that's a bit drastic. Instead, put your XP CD in the CD-ROM drive. Then just as you start your PC go to the BIOS setup. Usually this requires hitting F1, F2, F10, DEL at the right moment (some PC's will say "strike F1 to enter setup" or similar). It will always be before you see Windows start notification. OK, now go to the BOOT OPTIONS or BOOT ORDER and make sure your PC is set to "BOOT FROM CD" before "BOOT FROM HARD DRIVE" (this may be in a slightly different form but you got the idea). You will be able to change the order of the boot devices. Once happy, save the changes and exit. Reboot and the PC should pick up the XP CD to start the update.

How to install windows xp in sony vaio vgn-nw270F? tia

hello,

I will explain the process for you.

First of all if your computer has some windows like windows 98 or older than you can install the windows by simply inserting the disc and choosing the drive and install the windows.

However if you do not have any windows installed on your system or you have windows installed later than windows xp and want to install another operating system than use the following method.

First of all,
Please make sure you set the boot-priority first.

- you can go into bios by pressing the F12 or ESC key on your keyboard or if the key is different keep in mind when you turn your computer on you should see a small line at the first blink of your screen telling you to press a key to go to bios.

- Thank once you are in the bios please check the boot section and there set the boot-priority and by setting i mean the dvd drive or the cd drive should be apprering on the first section which means that your computer should boot from cd or dvd so that it can read your disc before it reads your hard-disk. remember to change this setting back once you have installed the windows.

- please insert the windows xp disc.

- than press enter on the bios screen and save changes and exit

- you comptuer will restart and

- it will take you straight to the point from where you can install windows using simple few clicks you just have to enter the serial number and your name etc. and the rest computer will do it-self.

Please let me know if there is anything else i can help you with.

Thank you.

Need to upgrade from windows 98 to windows xp on ibm 760e thinkpad

Before you begin, be sure to go to Lenova Website and download the appropriate XP software & drivers and burn them to a CD or flash drive. You will need them after the install is completed. After that is completed, you are ready to install. Insert the XP Install disk and choose INSTALL XP and on the next screens drop down menu, choose UPGRADE. Follow the instructions. After it is completed, use the CD or Flash Drive to install the proper system software & drivers.. GREAT LUCK!! Please rate me, k? Thank You Lucky4lynn2

I need a copy of windows xp with registry key

Contact any retail computer-store, or shop on eBay or AMAZON.
They can still sell you a "Windows XP Upgrade" kit,
to allow upgrades from Windows 98 (assuming that you still have your Windows 98 CD-ROM) to XP.

Upgrade NEC Versa VX

You can insert the Windows XP CD while logged on Win 98 and run a test from the CD. Obviously you need a larger Hard Disk and at least 126 MB RAM to bring XP to a usable speed. You can look for RAM upgrade options in this page.

I can't install it.

Ensure that you are running XP Service Pack 2 version, this software won't work on Windows previous version.

If you are using 98, you need to upgrade system.

If you are using XP you may need to upgrade service pack 2, see Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 2 .

Install Xp From Dos

If XP will not install from the CD or if you have a new drive with no operating system onit yet try these:

Install Windows XP from the hard drive with Windows 98 already installed:

Boot Windows 98
Insert the XP CD into your CD reader
Explore Windows XP through My Computer
Copy i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder and double click on winnt32.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive

Install Windows XP from DOS (ie. no OS on a new hard drive):

Boot with a Windows 98 Start Up disk
Insert the Windows 98 CD into the CD reader
Run smartdrv.exe from the Win98 directory on the windows 98 CD (file caching)
Type cd.. to back up to the root directory
Insert Windows XP CD into the CD reader
Copy the i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder on C: and type winnt.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive.
