HP2355 woln't work with windows vista - HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer

If the battery is 2 yrs. old ,and has been used a lot it probably is the battery.

Did you use Windows 7 drivers for the machine?

You can't scan to word unless you have OCR software running. Word is for text and without OCR it is only a picture or image and not text. It's not cheap but you need to shop around for something like Adobe with OCR to convert to text.

I have yet to setup any printer on a print server and not have it work. There are times that some functions do not work. For example there are control buttons on the printer itself for scanning, copying, faxing etc that if it was "directly" connected to the computer itself the computer would prompt you .. those kind of things don't work .. but other than that .. You should have no problem

Ie, when you need to install drivers first disconnect the printer and start installing the drivers. After few miniuts it will ask "please connect the printer" Simply connect the USB port to computer thats all
