Question about Lexar MDA256-100 MP3 Player

Lexar MDA256-100 RevA "Format Error"

I get an "Incorrect format, reformat player!" message when turning on the unit. Attempting to do a "Format" from a PC throuigh the Lexar provided USB cable generates an I/O error message on the PC..

Sounds like a format error on the storage. The bad news is the tunes stored on it are probably gone.
Do you have a mini USB B cable that you can connect to a PC? With this you can reformat the internal memory and the SD card.

either it is faulty or u should reformat it. it should be easy. you can find instructions on the internet.

It sounds like a firmware issue. Send an email to [email protected] and they will email you back a fix.

Attach MP3 to computer.
Open explorer and right click the MP3 drive letter.
Choose FORMAT
Next window choose FAT32 and Quick as the options.

Format the player error


Connect the device in Storage Device (USB Mass Storage) Mode and then format the storage disc to FAT
you can use the DOS command:
format X: /fs:fat

This idea came from another tech not me.
