Tip & How-To about Televison & Video

Why buy a extended warenty?

Many people think that spending another $100 for a warenty is just a wast of money.... Till they need it. TV's these days do not last, and have several problems within the first 2-5years.Parts are not cheep. You buy an off brand because it was such a good deal. Well it is not. Try finding parts!!!
A warenty covers you and you do noy have to worry about expensive parts and repairs. Do not still think you need one. LOOK AT THIS SITE? Dugh.
You need one. Power supply $80-325, T-con/Lcd cont $60-150 , X Or Y board $125-280 ,Buffer up/lower $60-120 ,inverter board $80-180 , Main PCB board $250-600,and screens Won't go there. Pluss the service call $60-120 and labor $80-150. An extended warenty is more than worth it.

Thanks,
Todd

Hi, Sorry but you need a new light engine. "optic block"Verry costly for Sony TV's It will get worse, turn green,or have blue near top or bottom. Caused by heat. Not dusting the back of the tv,and smoking in the house. The TV over heats and the LCD panels in the light engine have a polorised film that melts causing the colors. The part number is...A-1123-069-A
Part is $649.95 + $1300 core. I have several Sony LCD projection TV's at the shop with same problems.
Time to buy a Samsung LCD w/LED backlight. Best TV for the money.BUY A EXTEND WARENTY!!! No matter how good the TV is, They still break. Costly to repair. I do all the warenty work for Central Florida. So I know about how much you need one on these newer TV's. Sorry for the bad news. If I can help, contact me [email protected]

Hello Dabizot,

With the price of the new tv's, I would recommend getting a new tv. It's only a 19" and you can get a flat panel 19" for less than $ 200.00 It may cost you $ 100 plus to get it repaired along with any new parts. If you want to spend less money try looking at the yard sales, people are always selling used TV's for cheap.
