How do you record a VCR tape to a DVD? - GoVideo VR3845 DVD Recorder/VCR

You need a remote to setup the dvd record and vcr record. Then you have to do dvd initialization perhaps before you can dub from tape to dvd?

I have a Magnavox MWR20V6 and I am attempting to record a Tv show but when I play it back the recording is just black.

If you mean record from one tape to another, you'll need two VCR -
outout from first with the tape you want to play to the input of the seocnd with a tape to record.
Hit play on the first one and record on the second and off you go.

you will need an external dvd recorder to record vcr tapes to dvd. Sometimes you will have problems with quality when you do it this way. I have transfered vcr tapes to dvd with a transfer device using the computer and got much better results. If you need the name of the transfer device just get back with me and I will get it for you.

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

put a piece of scotch tape over the little square on the tape platic case bottom left......your recorder thinks it is a protected tape

on a combo unit ,insert the vcr tape and then put a blank dvd r /rw in to unit , you should then press rec button and records to dvd.


note you cant copy proteceted tapes due to the macrovision
