Hi,
Your magellan roadmate 760 unit does not have any reset option. To over come the signal problem just follow the trobleshooting steps givven below .............

NOTE: If you are trying these steps from your vehicle, it is
Recommended to follow when the vehicle is in a stationary position.
Make sure that the device is exposed to the clear view of sky.

With the antenna pointing upwards, remove the antenna and then re-insert.
Swivel it up and down to make sure its securely placed.

wait for few mins and check the signal indicator.
Still not working,

  • Turn on the unit and select any user.
  • Make sure that the antenna is in the upright position and the unit has
a direct line of sight with the sky.
  • Select 'Option' from the keypad.
  • Then select 'Configuration'.
  • Scroll down to select 'Diagnostics'.
  • Scroll down again to select 'Initialize GPS'.
  • At this point you would receive two options, 'Yes or No' - select 'YES'.
  • Now scroll down and select 'Set GPS Position'.
  • Enter your City, Street name and number at the corresponding
    prompts.

NOTE: The address that you are entering in the Set GPS Position should be the address at which you are at that point of time.

Thank you ! I followed these directions and it cured my lock up. My pointer was way off on I95 but it snapped back to Orlando and then I took it for a test drive and it followed me along like a puppy dog. I was on the brink of tossing the whole shebang into the trash..

I had the same issue. i ended up buying a garmin nuvi 680 as i needed something immediately. months later i plugged the gps into my pc and ran diskcheck. no problems found. i then ran acronis truimage echo workstation and imaged the gps to a file on my hard drive. i pressed - and repeat at the same time on the gps whe nit booted to the select user screen. i went to the utility to format the drive. upon reformatting the drive i restored the image to the gps via usb cable in acronis. took about 4 hours to do this since its usb 1.0, but the end result upon rebooting the gps was that in 5 minutes it locked onto my location.

Does this do anything? It seems like setting the position is an override, and doesn't help the GPS locate anything.

No signal in two units, did reset with magellan tech service, still gets stuck in the same location and no signal

Plug it in, turn it on and let it sit out in the open. If the unit is working at all, it will eventually find and lock onto the satellites. The 760 I'm using now came from California and it took over 2 hours to lock on. When I start a trip now, I let it sit before starting to drive and it locks on in just a few minutes.

How can I get the code to unlock the European map Magellan Roadmate 760

You will need to pay Magellan for the authorization code, they are the only one that can provide you with an EU code for your Magellan 760 RoadMate. Sometimes Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc can also assist. They have direct connection with Magellan to assist issues with Magellan products. Good Luck

I need an upgrade for my magellan Roadmate 760

You can download an upgrade for this unit from the Magellan website for free. Maps can be upgraded but they cost about $80, and that doesn't seem worth it to me. See if that works for you.

Magellan Roadmate 760 map update problem

Just push the antenna firmly back into the base; it pivots on a coax connector.
This is typical when you drop it.
The antenna is removable.

Unit will not acquire the satellite signs

FYI ....My Roadmate 760 would not aquire a signal, I went to diagnostic screen and found it was detecting/tracking 0/0 satellites. Held the plugged in unit out the window and within 10 seconds was tracking 7 satellites! Turned out my 1999 Olds Silhouette Van has a anti-glare filter inside the factory windshield that blocks GPS signals. My wifes 2001 Chevy Impala also has same type filter. Check your windshield, filter is visible inside glass to within about three inches of edges of glass. Worth a look.
