Check to see that the video input is set toth correct setting. ie/ cable/ant. t sounds as though it may be set to a video input like a DVD or Blue Ray or VCR.

have you been tried to dis able the supply going to the inverter board for the back light which may have bad parts causing the supply to drop. by the way is there any blinking lights after it turns off? it will tell you the error either in the power supply, inverter board or at the main board.
The problem is the power supply of your television.The power supply have abnormal voltage supply output cause of leaked capacitor.The leak capacitor have bulging tops, so that you can identify the leak capacitor. This tv the LCD inverter board is dead,that why is not sustanning backlight for the LCD screen light to have the picture.Call Polaroid for warrenty repair,this tv under a year old.
The white screen and nothing else usually indicates a failure of the filter capacitors in the power supply board. When these capacitors go out the voltages are not correct so the TV can not power up right. You can rebuild the power board by replacing the bad capacitors and this should bring the TV back to life. The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem or it maybe just a blown fuse inside the TV.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. If by some chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
Check the powersupply/inverter board for bad capacitors. Also check the CCFL bulbs in the top and bottom for poor solder connection - replace if necessary.
