Lexmark X5470 scanner problem

Scanner says it is going to 'Download application list' then it displays 'Cannot download application list'. I am unable to scan anything.
The scanner has always worked, now I don't know why this has happened.

    Same problem here . . . Straight out of the box printer is working perfectly, but when I push the Scan Mode button the screen says "Downloading Application List" for about 30 seconds and then "Cannot retrieve Application List" start flashing across the screen. Have the same problem with a Lexmark 5495!

    I just bought a Lexmark X5495 and got prompted for a "wiafbdrv.dll" file (so I googled and found a copy of that file), now, it gets up to the "plug your USB cable in prompt, and when I do and click to go on, the computer freezes.

    Please help

    i used a disc to add my all in one, but i was previously useing a gateway.

    now i'm useing a compaq presario....printer works well on windows xp

    and printing pictures from the computer, but unable to scan on personnal docs.....wont pickup on setup list for scan process

I had the same problem but if you open the Lexmark All-In-One center (can be found in start --> all programs --> lexmark 5400 series --> all-in-one center) and select scan (it will work)

if you dont have the program installed find your installation disk and when u re-install it, it should come up again

I have the same problem. I cannot scan in WiFi to this laptop but can with the USB cable. Even with the USB cable it says that it is downloading the application list and the "cannot retrieve application list."
I have Paperport Pro 11 software for scanning. I am able to use the interface with the USB.

Downloading application list - cant retreive application

If your pc tels you its downloading application, have a look a your printer drivers, your usb cable connecting your pc to printer and or the data cable inside the scanner might have gone faulty

Lexmark x3350-4500 scanner doesn't work

Please follow the steps given below to update the scanner driver:
1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2 Click the Hardware tab and select Device Manager

3. Right click on the scanner entry that is displaying a conflict.
4. Select Update Driver from the drop-down menu that appears. The Hardware Update Wizard appears.
5. Select Install from a list or specific location, then click Next.

6. Select the Don't search... option and then click Next.
7. Click Have Disk. The Install from Disk dialog appears.
8. Click Browse and select the Lexmark CD from the Look in drop-down list.
9. Double-click on Drivers.
10.Double-click click on Scan, select the lxbksxp file, and then click Open.

11.Click OK. The following screen appears:
12.Click Next to start the scanner installation.
13.When the installation is complete, click Finish to close the wizard.

Scanner

this happened to me yesterday after recieving whatever lexmark update my computer downloaded. I restarted everything, computer and turned on/off fax and unplugged for a bit.

It seems to be working OK now.

I know that's lame dell-style, advice, but the restart worked for me.
