Gateway DC-40. I attempted to format a new 4GB compact flash card. I guess I must have done something wrong. I now have no monitor LCD display, the camera will respond to the on/off switch and the lens will extend. But, the camera will not respond to any of the other switches. In the LCD panel indicator display have an L in the upper lefthand corner and in the upper RH corner I have the auto flash and red eye reduction icons. I had installed the CF card the day before and everthing was fine except it would not record any photos. I then found my user's manual and was reminded that I needed to format the new card. (I don't use my camera much, so I didn't remember.) I put in new batteries and the battery condition icon displayed. That was only improvement. Tomorrow I will use AC power adapter and see if that makes any difference. Thank you for your help. Cheerful Charlie

    Hello Taran,

I was told by another source to remove the card and the batteries, wait 15 minutes and re-install the batteries. The camera was fully functional after that. You were right. They told me the 4GB card was too much for my little camera, that 2GB is the max that my camera can handle. So, tomorrow I go to Walmart to buy a 2GB card..

    Thank you,

    Cheerful Charlie

FAT error on format

FAT error fixed! Formatted using my Canon SLR camera.
I would like to credit whomever it was that suggested using the Camera to check if the card was working for the thought. I had spent many hours attempting to format and reformat my cards using Windows 10 64bit Pro machine. They would work perfectly fine on the computer but would fail on my MC 10001 every time. The MC also failed when trying to format on the sewing machine. Then I stumbled across this thread. I can only guess that the age of technology has become incompatible with the way my computer formats the card. Once I formatted using the camera, everything magically works. Of course, I needed to reformat using the MC machine; but, that was a breeze. I hope this helps someone!

Can i use 4GB Compact Flash in Nikon Cool pix 4300 Nikon Digital Camera?

A 4GB CompactFlash card should work in your Nikon Coolpix, but you may only be able to use 2GB of it's space once formatted correctly. This camera formats the cards in the FAT file system. That basically means that one can only use up to 2GB of memory (2048 MB).

Gateway fpd1760 tft lcd color monitor i not warking

- isolate the problem first by checking all the cables for any bent pins and loose wire/ connections - unplug the lcd monitor and try to get a spare computer to check if its your computer's video card or the lcd monitor - if lcd will give display using a different computer it only means there's something wrong in the computer's video card - if lcd will not give display using a different computer it only means lcd had gone bad and needs to be replaced.
thanks.

I have Sandisk Extreme III 4GB memory card why after i shooting photo the file is cannot read?

Make sure your camera is compatible with a 4GB flash card. Some only take 1 or 2 GB cards. If that isn't the issue, format your card inside the camera with the camera's format utility.

SanDisk Ultra 11 CompactFlash Card 4Gb says "Card not Initalized"

You may need to format the card. There should be a Format command in the Setup menu. To be more specific, one would need to know which model of Finepix camera you refer to.
