My mcm309R shelf system will not open or play cds. It just gives a reading of "check cd decoder box". What do I need to do?

its not reading the cds because the lense is either damaged or in need of a cleaning

Your CD player is failed. It will need to be replaced. Some folks can repair but it cost less to have it replaced. If no one local will do it BOSE will for about $150.

cd unit unable to read disc,replace or try cleaning laser lens.cd clamper may be misaligned or faulty,check operation in service position(top up).

change optical unit

Those "cleaning" discs are rarely effective. Open up the unit cna carefully clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Update this if that failes to resolve the problem.

Unplug subwoofer cable from main unit

Try a lens cleaner cd, as when the lens gets misaligned or if it's quite old, it will find it harder to read a DVD as the tracks are much closer together than that of a VCD as they are cd's and their tracks are wider apart and easier to read.
