Dell dimesion 4600 won't boot up

I can't get my dimension 4600 to boot up. I put it in sleep mode 2 nights ago, via the keyboard, and now can't boot it up.

When I power it up, the green led comes on on the front panel. The green led is lit on the motherboard, and the drives(dvd, cd burner). come on. No power to the keyboard, and no vidio signal. I just put a new power supply in it a week ago.

Now when when you say your computer doesnt boot up, do you mean it wont Power up at all? or does it turn on and wont boot into windows.

2 things you can do for either of these problems

1) If your computer doesnt power on, you may need a new power supply, contact me me if you need help buying a power supply,

2) if your computer turns on but doesnt boot to windows try putting in the ORGINAL windows disk you have when you FIRST turn on the computer and try and do a REPAIR YOUR CURRENT VERSION OF WINDOWS.

Your computer will boot off the windows disk and then prompt you to repair you version of windows. DO NOT REFORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE or DO NOT REINSTAKK WINDOWS

let me know if this is of some help.

i think you might need a new hard drive. How old is the computer. Hard drives sometimes need to be replaced because of the constant powering up, spinning, getting shut off, and unfortunatly getting shutoff by unplugging. Try this:

when you turn on the computer. And its done trying to boot up. And it stays frozen try pressing the spacebar a couple times, and tell me if you hear the hard drive spinning.

Came home to find computer off. It was left in sleep mode. The moniter keeps saying there is no signal and the keyboard has no power.

If its truely in sleep mode, and won't come out of sleep mode. Unplug the computer from its power, hold the power button down for 5-15 sec, then wait 2-5 full minutes. Then plug it back in, and turn it on.
If that doesn't work it is NOT stuck in sleep mode. Most dell computers I've worked with the caps go out in the power supply and/or the motherboard. I would next clean out the computer with canned air, check the caps on the motherboard, and in the power supply. If there are any bad caps, replace them, and it should fix it. Hopefully though the above paragraph fixes your problem.

I have a dell dimension 4600 computer. I usually put the computer in sleep mode when I am not using it. Usually I press the ESC button and the computer wakes up. All of a sudden, the monitor won't...

Plug the monitor into another computer to determine if the monitor is damaged or working properly. You can also plug another monitor into your computer to determine the same thing.

I can't boot up normal, safe mode, or to the cd-rom on my dell dimension 4600 desktop, i've set to boot to cd rom in bios, but still nothing

If you are trying to boot off an Windows Installation disc then you might have a problem. On some computer the CD-ROM drive won't be able to read the operating system disc.

The solution to this issue would be to put in a DVD drive and try to boot from that.

More details on the normal and safe mode boot attempts would be nice too. Are you getting a blue screen or is it just hanging up?

How can I open my Dimension 4600 in safe mode?

Power the PC down then power it up. As soon as the power comes on, Keep pushing F8 until you get a start menu. Safe mode will be one of the options.

Dell Dimesion 4600-Yellow light after I added memory

take out the newly installed stick and see if it comes on.  if it does, find out if the memory and motherboard are compatible.  if your computer no longer boots even with the new stick taken out, you probably already burned your motherboard and the damage is irreversible.  it can also be a bad stick that you installed.
