There are a couple of ways to do this. Sony offers three programs to help you with this, one called Sonic stage, one called Content transfer, and last, Media Manager for Walkman. You can download these programs from the Sony site for free. You will also need to find a program called "Any Video Converter" It Is a free program, and you use it to convert your videos into a MP4 format that the Sony can decode and play. All you need is to pick a video you want to play on your Sony, Convert it to MP4 format, and copy that video on to the Sony player right into the players Video folder. Hook up the player to your computer, go to my computer and right click chose explore look for the Sony player on the tree open the tree in the player look for the video folder and copy your new video into that folder and your good to go. The Sony programs may or may not be useful for you. You do not have to have them. Have Fun with it.
Use Sony's content transfer to transfer the video. In the settings, select the automatic conversion of the video when you drag an drop it using content transfer. This worked for me with Windows 7 and an upgraded device firmware to version 1.0.1. Both Sony's Content Transfer 1.3 and firmware version 1.0.1 can be found on Sony's website.
I guess the problem should be that ur MPEG-4 file is in wrong resolution ...You could try this Daniusoft video converter which is already optimized for output setting for sony walkman, easy-to-use.
Firstly; is it in the right format? You say MP4, but the video needs to be specifically MP4 - 320x240 screen resolution. It won't play if the resolution is incorrect.
So get that fixed up first if that's what's wrong (http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/ has a great program to convert videos to MP4). If not, sometimes my computer doesn't allow me to put files on it one way, but it will another, so try copy/paste instead of drop and drag. Hope that helps.
