No maps found??

When I started my tomtom the first time, it started just fine. I conneced to my computer and installed tomtom HOME and it said I needed some upgrades, so I installed them.
Now, on power up, tomtom says "no maps found" and I can't do anything.
When I reconnect to tomtom home, it shows I have maps, POI and other things too so how do I get tomtom to find the maps?
Thanks

I have a 520; lots of initial problems which I seem to have sorted but no on boot up, I get the No Maps found message, despite Tomtom Home saying they're there! Any clues?

I have a Go 520 - having updated with tomtom home I started off with the dreaded white cross on red background, and had to re-format and restore a backup, but then I got the "no maps found". I tried re-installing the main application with TomTom Home, and when that installed it seemed to pick up the maps again.

Hope that helps.

No maps found

When your tom tom comes up with the no maps found error message. There are several causes to the problem.
If you updated your map using the latest map guarantee and then get the error No maps found, make sure you install the latest version of the TomTom application.
Check for the latest application: Connect your navigation device or memory card to your computer and click Update my device in TomTom HOME to check if a new application is available.
You can check the version of your application in TomTom HOME. Connect your device and then click Manage my device and select the Items on my device tab. Expand Applications and then click More info.
Your map may require the latest version of the TomTom application.
Check for the latest application Connect your navigation device or memory card to your computer and click Update my device in TomTom HOME to check if a new application is available.
HOME may not immediately offer the latest application version when installing a downloadable map on a blank memory card. Re-connect your memory card to HOME and check for the latest application by clicking Update my device in HOME. HOME this time offers the latest application for your device. Try Installing maps on a new memory card
You can check the version of your application in TomTom HOME. Connect your device and then click Manage my device and select the Items on my device tab. Expand Applications and then click More info.
You need to also make sure all files are in the right places. Browse the content of your navigation device:
Windows XP: Click Start > My Computer and then double-click the removable drive of your device.
Windows 7 / Windows Vista: Click the Windows start button > Computer and then double-click the removable drive of your device.
Mac OS X: Double-click the desktop icon of your navigation device.
Check the following:
The map folder (e.g. Western_Europe) needs to be located in the root directory of your navigation device or memory card. This means the map folder may not be inside another folder. Before you move the map folder we recommend that you create a manual backup.
The map folder needs to contain at least the following files
cline.dat cname.dat cnode.dat faces.dat mapinfo.dat poi.dat tables.dat tmccodes.dat traffic.dat .meta (map v705 or higher will have/need this file) .meta.dct (map v705 or higher will have/need this file) .pna
If any of these files are missing restore a previously made backup or re-install your map to your device (in TomTom HOME click Add Traffic, Voices, Safety Cameras etc. > Items on my computer).
Hpe this was helpful. Thanks for using fixya.

Same problem here. We used a Mac instead of Windows, if that matters??? Have you tried calling Tomtom support? We can't get through and are VERY frustrated! In the last three days, we've called about 10 times and have been on hold forever... like up to an hour! They also have not responded to emails we've sent!
Any help from others out there on this would be appreciated.

My Tom Tom Go 300 keeps coming up No Maps found. What can I do?

Either the map(s) in your GPS were deleted or you bought a unit without maps. Your only option is to purchase the maps that you need from TomTom. They cost about $70-$100 US dollars in the US. I do not know where you live or what maps you need, so I can't give you more information right now.

The easiest way to get maps is through "TomTom Home" software that you should have installed in your computer. If you don't have it, install it from www.tomtom.com and start TomTom Home. Then plug the GPS docking station to a USB port on your computer and place your GPS on the docking station. Turn the GPS on. If you are asked if you want to connect your GPS to the computer, answer YES. After the GPS is recognized by TomTom Home, you'll get a set of icons on the window screen. One of them should be labeled "get maps". Click on it. Most of the time, only a few maps will be shown. To get access to all the maps you can buy, choose "ALL" from the drop down menu that says "Recommended".

Plese, report back if you need further assistance.

This is not a solution, it is a new problem
my tomtom was working fine until I connected it to my computer using the latest TomTom Home. It now flashes a white cross and TomTom Home says "No device connected". My TomTom is useless now and does not work anymore.

TomTom go 720

If you have two devices you must have two email address. One for each device. This is the way tt home works. Another way to get around it is to open tt home preferances and in general preferances make sure remember my password is not checked. Sometimes a popup will want you to log in just click not this time at the bottom left cornor and then tt home will go on and update your device without loging in.
Hope this helps

Upload latest western europe map v7.20 to TOMTOM 700 not possible

I have managed to solve the problem of loading a new map on my Go700 using a Mac. I discovered that Tomtom is incompatible with the Leopad operaying system, despite the protestations of the idiots at Tomtom ,so I reverted to an older Mac using Tiger.
Taking the instructions given to crinold, I tried to erase the disc on the 700 using home 1.5 - and it didn't work. So I went to disc utilities, highlighted and erased the Tomtom disc, and opened home 2,5. After being refused entry several times, like being told to load an already loaded device, I persevered, and managed, slowly, to add the map I had bought for 78 euros. T]One point oif interes is that when I bought the map, they site stated it would cost 63 pounds sterling, but switched it to euros when the invoice arrived. at a rate very favourable to Tomtom - funny, that.
This is sharp practice, probably illegal in many countries,, but, to be honest, dealing with the mysterious Tomtom company is so frustrating, that I don't have the time or inclination to fight them for the money they cheated from me.
How they survive with such an awful product and extremely bad after sales service is hard to understand - perhaps they won't ... we live in hope.

No maps found??

The problem is caused by a version mismatch between the Application version and the Map Version. They must both be the same. For example, if the TomTom has not had the application updated, but you updated the maps, the TomTom will not know how to read the file.

Make sure that if you are trying to use a version 815 map, that you are using a version 8.XXX application too. I had to upload two application version changes before I could read the new USA maps.

No maps found on tom tom one new edition

this problem just happened to me. i'd just bought my new tomtom one and tested it on the journey home. all was well and i was really impressed. that was until I got it home and went to update it to get the latest maps for my area. I installed all the software as instructed by the on screen prompts and downloaded the latest updates. i then went to turn the device on, and was greeted by a message stating ''no maps found!''

after almost two hours of complete frustration, i then tried probably the easiest solution anyone could think of:

First of all, connect the device to your computer and close down tom tom home. (making sure it isn't even open in the system tray).

Now, open my computer and find the device. it will be labelled as a storage device (mine was drive G). Open it up and find where the maps are saved to. Something like, UK and Ireland, or something similar relating the place you live. Once located, delete them manually.

Now, reopen tomtom home and go to tools. Click ''use latest map guarantee''. It will then download the maps again and install them onto the device.

Next disconnect using the option 'disconnect device'' from the device menu.

Finally turn on your tom tom if it doesn't automatically, and you should be back in business. This worked for me, after trying numerous way more complicated solutions I found in various forums.

Hope it works for you too!
