I have a Hummingbird 787 c2 sounder / gps combo. The tempreture is reading approx 20c above what the actual temp is. I have done a system check and the unit is saying temp connected. What could cause this?
All Hummingbird products manufactured for use in the United States only read in English, fathoms, feet, miles. You would have to see your dealer about a metric unit.

Yes all Ultrex motors have built in transducers w/ water temp. Not compatible with hummingbird DI series But with a 2D GPS and SI Combo are compatible. Happy Fishing
Try a factory reset - that worked for me when my Northstar Explorer 660 stopped by itself again and again. You find this reset commando by pressing MENU twice and then under Systems menu, if I remember it correctly. There is also a RAM Clear commando. This is done by holding the MENU button pressed when the GPS is switched off. Keep it pressed while switchin on the GPS, still holding the button pressed until the RAM Clear menu appears. You will probably loose all waypoints etc. by doing this so try Factory Reset as your first alternative. Good Luck! // Jonas, Sweden
You need to check to see if the depth sounder transducer is connected or functioning. It might be turned off, the connectors may be bad or the transducer is bad. I don't have the 498 manual in front of me but I think there is a test function under the setup menu. I'd check my connections (the usual suspect) then run that.
Garmin tech support is pretty good/quick. So don;t be afraid to give them a call.
If the transducer is out of the water, you will not get a reading and see the flashing depth. You should hear and feel the clicking in the transducer when out of the water and working properly. Are you getting a temp reading when out of the water?
This kind of depends on what the SD card holds. If it is a blank card that you have saved sounder information (readings) onto then you will need to hit the Humminbird website and register your product. You can then download the Humminbird PC software to "replay" your sounding recordings. If it's an SD card that you bought for lake depths or gps then check with the manufactures website to see if they offer software to read the card on a pc. visit http://www.humminbird.com/support/ and log into the Product Update section to download the most recent version of Humminbird PC
Is it connected to your boat motor if yes check your voltage from your engine and clean your baterry post, sometime you get what they call electrical sound that will disrupt a clean electrical wave for your system.
Hi! here's a user manual/installation manual for your sounder: NS25 If the depth sounder portion works, I would suspect the settings are off (check first) or the gps circuit needs repair. Best of luck! Mike
We have an old Hummingbird Depth Sounder (Wide 100, 94 model) and it turns on but must be on test mode or smething cause we can not get it off. Does anyone know or have a manual to solve this problem. Please help.
It is unlikely the problem is in the A65 screen.....most likely it is an issue with the paddlewheel itself, its circuit in the depth/speed transducer, or least likely, in the DSM25 sounder module.
Both the log and the trip functiions are read from the paddle-wheel sensor of the connected DSM25 sounder module and transducer.
1. Make sure you have a DSM25 sounder module and transducer with a paddle wheel (the A65 is available without the DSM25 option.)
Double check the connections between the DSM25 and the A65, as well as the transducer connection to the A65. There is an indicator light on the DSM25 to confirm it is on.
2. Make sure the paddle wheel turns freely. They tend to get fouled easily with debris and growth.
3. Make sure the A65 is giving to a reading for SPEED when underway or when having a buddy spin the paddlewheel by hand. Do not confuse SPEED with SOG. SPEED is from the paddlewheel.....SOG (Speed over ground) comes from your GPS sensor and is not used by A65 for log or trip purposes.
If you get npo speed reading at all the paddle wheel may be defective or the depth/speed transducer may be defective. See your dealer about a replacement.
