Can a ribbon (AWM 2896) be repaired? Spliced? Have ribbon on DVD player that has the outboard conductor cut and the adjacent conductor exposed. The ribbon is soldered to the circuit board on the attached end .

If you can gently strip the insulation off with an exacto knife to where some of the copper is exposed, you can solder the exposed copper together. it will not be as flexible, though.

I have exactly the same problem. It seems that there is nowhere online. I can find touchpad ribbons but not power ones.

This apears to be an equivalent cable. I am an EE helping a friend fix his DV6000t HP laptop where 2 of these cables have failed. A PN search for the identical cable (AWM E118077 2896 80C) came up with your problem post.
