Drivers won't download

I have my disk and have uninstall & then reinstall my lexmark software. I have even tried to download the drivers and reinstall them. Each time I get an error message "Lexmark 4200 series printer drivers not installed. Please reinstall your print driver". Can you help explain what I am doing wrong?

Hi Lilac,

I hadn't thought to try that, so I did. I'm still having issues with getting my printer set up. I have used it for years and my wife took it to a Geek to add some some upgrade graphic cards put in for my Christmas present and I haven't been able to get my printer to work since then. Any other advice?

Try this, first deinstall all the last lexmark remains on your disc now deactivate all virusscans and firewalls you might have, restart PC and install lexmark printer software, only plug in printer once the install program asks for it. Good luck

You may have a driver conflict error. Tell me, are you going to device manager and completely uninstallin old driver before reinstalling?

Try running antispyware and virus checks. This can mess with your system lke you would not believe.

Lexmark x5470 drivers won't install with cd or thru Lexmark on line. Using windows vista 32 bit.

Make sure to uninstall the old Lexmark driver before installing the downloaded driver. It should automatically create a print object under "Printers" after installing the driver.

After reinstalling software I get this error messages everytime I try to print. "Color table is missing. You must uninstall and reinstall the printer software." Have reinstalled about 10 times now with...

The error happens when the Lexmark Printer Driver v2.2 Software Update is installed first before the printer driver from the installation disk or web download. Lexmark X1240: tried to uninstall and reinstall

Please make sure that the printer is actually VISTA compatible (it should say it on the box) If it is compatible then there is a good chance that the drivers need to be updated. (even if you just bought it) Your first option would be to download the driver directly from Lexmark.com (forget the CD that came with it) Your other option is to download the drivers for LEXMARK X1250 (I have tried this many times with other printers and they worked just fine) I have also used these two web sites to download the drivers for other printers and it seems to work ok so far. Downloading and installing.

Remove printer from 'printers & faxes'.

Uninstall printer software from 'add & remove' programs.

Disconnect the printer from your computer.

Reboot your computer.

Install the printer software that you downloaded. Connect printer to computer following on screen instructions.

Cannot reinstall printer because of lost disk

If you go to Lexmark's website. Under "Search by Model", put in X5340. You can download the driver from there.

Device/Drivers Incompatibility

Was this installed by disk with software or did you get the driver and software from website.

You need to uninstall the software and make sure the driver was uninstalled. First go to my com,properties, hardware, devise mgr,
and look in this list for the driver,lexmark printer. Now use add/remove programs and uninstall the lexmark stuff, now restart pc, and check devise mgr and make sure its gone,if not just rt click on it and pick uninstall,restart pc. Now run the registry cleaner.

Download this free registry cleaner, its pretty good for free.

Run the cleaner, and then download the driver,make sure vista driver, from page that I post below. Now reinstall the software
and follow the directions when it tell you to hook up the printer.

You will have to research the driver as the page does not hold the driver.

go to www.isohunt.com and download driver detective with key. Install driver detective. And let it to search for the drivers your system needs to operate any hardware. When it searches the drivers for your MFP then install it.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

Unplug printer USB.
Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
Follow driver installation wizard.
Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note: some printer does not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.
