If motor running sound comes and door does not open then door opening belt require replacement. However, see the from side of DVD Player. There is a small pinhole usually it is located under the disk tray. Insert a pin in this hole and push. The door will be opened.

In case you're not able to eject the disc using the eject button, you can try right clicking on the CD/DVD drive under 'My Computer' and clicking on eject. If that fails as well, you can try to eject the disc manually by pushing a straightened paper clip or a pin into the tiny hole on front of the CD/DVD drive. Combo units have this essential flaw--if one half fails you are usually done especially if the DVD side fails.

If Door does not open either a disc is jammed inside the mechanism or the mechanism is out of alignment or damaged.

Good argument against buying these units--DVD individual parts are rarely sold--only (if available) would be the entire DVD unit itself--not cost effective to repair.

DVD players are now real cheap (see some for as little as $20) so if not a simple jammed disc or something like that buy a DVD player.

You can manually open the door using a straightened paper clip inserted into a small hole in the door. Press firmly and the door will be released. You may have a CD stuck in there, or you may need to reinstall the driver for the CD. Or the CD drive may have failed...at least the control part that opens and closes the door.

You can open the door by looking for a very small hole in front of the driver get a safety pin and open it wide and insert the tip in that hole it will open the door manually. With your ear next to tv do you hear the sound of a motor trying to open the dvd door. If so probaly a plastic gear that has failed that opens the dvd door otherwise could be the motor. Just go buy a $30 dvd player and connect to the tv input. not worth repairing and stay away from tv/dvd combos in the future for this reason that your having to expierence now.

HI, you have two issue here. the load motor is malfunctioning. this is causing the door open and close feature to lock up. this motor is connected to the gear assembly. it should be replaced soon. the second issue is the optical lens assembly. this len assembly has failed. the laser is burned ut. this is causing the no play issue.

In conclusion, i recommend replacing the optical len assembly and the load motor as well. this will fix this issue. try not to force the door open often, this Will damage the loading dock gears.

Check to see if anythig is blocking the tray from opening. Also the tray motor or connections may be failing. I would open the case, remove and replace as many connections, one at a time, to make sure the connections were good. If the tray still does not move, then one or more than one component has failed. It could be an electronic component or the motor.

That is a problem with those units not all but still a problem, the fuse in the dvd recorder has failed unless you can repair surface mount components I suggest you take it to someone who can, the part that failed is marked with an N on the underside of the dvd recorder there are two of them so make sure which one is bad.

I have this problem with my DVD rom too. I don't know if we have the same ones or not. I took mine apart to try and diagnose the problem, and it turns out that there was this thing inside that wasn't dropping down all the way to allow the tray to slide out, it was staying locked in place.
I was unable to find a cure for this.
However, I found that when I press the button to open the DVD rom, when it fails to open, I give the top of mt computer a slap, and it un-locks the mechanism and the DVD tray slides out properly.
