remove the stereo from your truck. underneath the head unit itself WILL have a model number along with serial number, wiring instructions, etc............. but be warned that Sony WILL charge top dollar for the faceplate, which in turn will have them sayin somethin like "We recommend buying a new unit as the faceplate will cost nearly the same price as a new unit". In saying that, ALL Sony car stereo wiring looms fit each other, so no need for reinstalling the wires. so if u can get a cheap one without loom, then you'll be fine
There is a ribbon cable that tells the face what to do. You will have to take it in to get serviced as it is very hard to change. There are alot of pieces / parts inside. hope this helps
