Does this happen ONLY when connected to YOUR computer,
or does this happen when conected to some other notebook/desktop?

If the former, your computer is entering "power-save" mode,
after a few minutes of inactivity. Just "wake-up" your computer,
and it will wake-up the LCD monitor.

If it is the latter, then you have a "hardware" problem with your LCD monitor. Take it to a qualified technician for trouble-shooting.

Lcd-17v8 monitor power won't stay on. westinghouse monitor

If the monitor turns on and goes directly to sleep, or it powers on briefly and shows an image then goes black then the monitor is defective. The first is often an I/O panel issue inside of the monitor. The second is typically a lamp failure within the monitor.
A simple test would be to plug a different monitor into your computer or this monitor into another computer. If the monitor doesn't work on another computer or a different monitor works on the same computer then the monitor is the issue.
If the different monitor does not work on the same computer or this monitor does work on a different computer then something on the computer is to be suspected such as a driver issue or a faulty video card.
If you find the monitor is defective then you should dispose of it (assuming it is not under warranty) at a nearby recycling center and purchase a new monitor. I would suggest something by Acer, Samsung, Dell, HP, NEC, or Viewsonic. These brands cost a bit more, but have much better track records.

I have a 17" LCD Monitor - LCM-17V8. When I turn

Hi, it seems to be an issue with your monitor's backlight not working properly. Just to be sure, try using a different monitor on the same exit of your VGA, if that works, my supposition is confirmed. In case your monitor is still under warranty, just send it to Westinghouse support center, otherwise I'm afraid you will have to buy a new one. Hope it helped, Franz

Westinghouse monitor lcm 17v8 will not power on it just sits there and blinks

mufdvr6942, the "switch-mode-power-supply" is in shutdown. Have a technician evaluate (inspect) it. Do that if monitor is less than 4yrs old.
Also visit youtube and search and view longer (8-12min) vid clips of LCD monitor disassembly or LCD repair FYI 12fixlouie

I have a BenQ FP791 17 in LCD. I was working until one day I turned it on and it now only displays an all white screen. I plugged it in to another computer, same problem. I can add it as a second monitor to windows but all it displays is white. Windows finds it and the mouse can move over to it but I do not see anything. I am handy with a soldering iron, but not nessisarily diagnosing electronic problems.
Comment posted on Oct 26, 2008I ended up replacing the bulging capacitors on the board inside, and now it works. Thanks for all the comments and help.

No power but ON button flashing

Quickest fix for this is probably to temporarily unplug the monitor power cord.

For your other outages, I assume the monitor is connected to a computer, make sure the operating system power-save features have not disabled the video output signal from the computer ... if so, monitor should re-activate when you use the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard.

If your computer has two video outputs, make sure the primary display hasn't been shifted to the other one ... try it by moving the LCD data cable to the other video connector on the computer.

Lcm-17v8 monitor

Hi,
This is a problem with the cable that runs from your laptop to the monitor.
Or the VGA Output socket, on your laptop itself.

1:) Try using the monitor, on a different PC Or Laptop.
2:) Toggle The LCD/VGA Button on the laptop. ( This should change the display Mode )
Sometimes you Have A fn key, on the keyboard. Press fn And LCD/VGA.
3:) Check that there is no damage to the cable from laptop to Monitor.
If none of the above work, it,ll be the monitor itself. faulty panel or invertor board.
