Question about Samsung HLN4365W 43" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Sound quit on Samsung rear projection TV

The speakers just quit on my Samsung HLN4365W rear projection TV. It's not connected to any sound system. We use the TV's speakers. We;ve tried the Mute button which is not the problem. The sound quit in the middle of playing a Wii game. Is there sound board that may need to be replaced? Is this typically an expensive "fix"? We just put a new lamp in it and the sound WAS working fine. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Thanks!

We solved the problem by purchasing a surround sound system and hooked it up to the Cable box thus bypassing the TV speakers. It was a cheaper fix than having a TV repair service guy come out and we have even better sound! Thanks anyway!

No picture on a DLP when you can see the lamp is working is ALWAYS the DLP chip. BECAUSE you recently replaced the color wheel, i suspect that the LVDS/data cable to the light engine was not plugged in well and has come loose. I suggest checking and rechecking every cable and plug you can find.

The projection lamp has not been replaced like 1 1/2 or 2 years and tv on and used like 4 or 5 hours a day on this tv?yes,than the projection lamp life is over.Require a new projection lamp.

The sound comes from the color wheel and not a fan,common to samsung dlp tv's which can be the cause of the shut down.

Sound problems

Are you referring to sound using the Tv system or an extraneous sound system.
Do you no sound.......or distorted sound.
Have you checked all speaker connections if this is a unit that has been in place for quite some time.
Age can do strange things to terminal connections which may need either resoldering or cleaning up.
Try using other speakers that you know give good sound output on another system. It could be that the speaker diaphragms have dried out and lost their elasticity.

That set has 2 DVI connectors in the back. Either one will work if you have a cable that matches.

We have the same DLP set and had the same problem. The Color Wheel, P/N BP96-00250A, a $200 part needs replacement to eliminate your problem.

That could either be the cooling fan bad or the light engine assembly as they both can exhibit the sympton your describing. Can you haer this sound as soon as the power is pushed or does it take a moment. If its instantly chances are its the fan.

Did you reset the hours on the lamp with the menu options on your set? Sometimes, if you do not do that it can mess with the tv performance thinking that its over hours. It needs to be reset to 0 again...
