Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

I have 2 Thermostat's in my home. My heat works well upstairs but not downstairs. My thermostat downstairs won't come on but I unhooked the thermostat from downstairs and tried it upstairs and it worked fine. What could be the problem downstairs

    It's Electric. The unit is a Ducane and the Model number is 2HP13L30P-1A

Hi, sounds like you determined the problem is not with the thermostat. That leaves the furnace that serves downstairs. What type heating system do you have?

My upstairs temperature is 80 degrees and the downstairs is 69 Honeywell focus pro th6000 is set at 69. Why is the upstairs so drastically hot?unit is located upstairs& thermostat is downstairs
if there is no control of air movement between floors and you have it on cooling then any cold air will go down to the lower floor
or alternately if you have it set on heating all the hot air will rise to the upper floor
where is the system located (upstairs or down stairs ) and where is the thermostat located
to get control close any upstairs to down stairs doors or erect a heavy curtain across the stair well

My upstairs thermostat shows the little flame in the lower right-hand corner, but the heat doesn't come on. I have it programmed to go to 73 degrees and it was on 70 for a while and went down to 67...
check the low voltage on your furnace board.. w terminal to your c terminal.. this will tell you if you are getting signal from your stat.

Not enough heat
Take an Amp draw on all heaters and compare. If within 5%, they are working fine but you may have more open area downstairs than up.

2 Rheem Protech 500 thermostats, 1 upstair & 1 downstairs with a Rudd Achiever 90Plus gas furnace. Thermostat downstairs works fine but upstairs one cycles fan on and off 2-3 times during heating...
Have you checked to make sure that all of the supply registers are open, the air filter is clean and nothing is blocking the return air grill?
It almost sounds like you could be cycling on a limit switch.
Usually on gas furnaces, the blower is controled by the onboard controls, in the cooling mode the thermostat will control the blower.
I would be looking past the thermostat, at the furnace it self.

Hi - our upstairs thermostat isn't showing anything (and getting no heat). It has been going off and on for a month or so. Today, the downstairs thermostat (the heat downstairs works) showed an Er.

Carrier thermostat reading stuck on 50 but doesn't work
If it is Carrier tstat. Some have resets other dont. Kill power to insid unit. WAit five minutes turn back on. If it has batteries take them out. But the storm may have damaged the tstat. I had a thunderstorm damage 11 tstats in one building. You can buy a tsta at Home depot that will work and they are easy to wire. Just make sure you get the coorect tstat. If the unit is straight cool electric thats the easy one. A heat pump you need a Tsta with two stage heat one stage cool. You can pick one up for about 25 to 30 dollars. Warm air rises and if the upstairs thermostat is on it will onerride to lower the temp upstairs. To have the dowstairs thermostat govern, the up stairs must be off . The whole house will balance to the controlling thermostat.

Heating blowing coo air downstairs and warm upstairs?
Some of this depends on where the air handler/furnace is located. Most often in two story houses, it's in the attic upstairs, or in a closet upstairs. A duct routes air from the furnace to the downstairs supply duct, so it is a distance from the air handler.
When the unit first initiates a heating cycle, that duct is going to be full of cool air, and the duct itself will be cool. So the furnace has to run long enough to push the cool air out, as well as warm the duct up, before your going to feel warm air at the registers downstairs.

Keep in mind, heat rises. And, your thermostat only monitors the immediate area where it's located. In your case, upstairs.
Two story houses are problematic because of this. And one way around it is to have a damper system installed that distributes the air upstairs or downstairs based on a thermostat located in those spaces. There would be 2 dampers, and 2 thermostats (one upstairs, one downstairs). Each stat would control a damper, and the call for heat or cooling.

Let me know if you would like to consider a system like this, and I can point you to components to use. I've put several system like this in.

High Electrical bill - Appears to be heatpump problem.
Sound like there are running on emergency heat which is elrctric.Have the system checked out buy a local heating and cooling company. Have they checked the filter and changed them.
