I NEED TO CHANGE THE DEVICE CODE FOR A TOMTOM920T IN ORDER TO ACCEPT UPDATES.MY PREVIOUS ONE WAS FAULTY SO THIS IS A REPLACEMENT.
MY ACC WITH TOMTOM SHOWS THE PREVIOUS DEVICE CODE AND WILL NT ALLOW A CHANGE FOR SIX MONTHS. OFFICES ARE CLOSED SO NO RESPONSE
I am having problems with the safety cameras on my tom tom 920t i.e does not report any even though the safety camera alerts have been switched on. They used to work

You need to have a special tools!
Torx T7 and small flat head !
On the back of unit, using torx unscrew 2 screws!
Using small flat head screwdriver pick the front panel!
Carefully disconnect cables on the back of the display!
Unscrew circuit board!!!
Carefully disconnect speaker wire, and battery wire!!!!
Battery is glued to circuit board, carefully pill it off!!!!!!!
Place new battery on the same spot, and revert all the directions!!!!

Did you try to reset the Tom Tom? Did you try to see if the unit is charging or fully charged (samll green light on the lower righthand corner should illuninate when charging)? I have had problems with the power connection at the base of the unit getting loose. Try taking it into the computer and getting a full charge if it is a charging problem. Not an expert but expereinced the same problem recently.
certain map share corrections can only be reported...some of those corrections are missing streets...please be advised that the maps on your unit are preloaded...the ability to change them is not possible....the errors can only be reported, and then will be added on future map releases..check out the support page for more on map share
voice recognition should be set up by default on the unit you describe. in order for it to go into voice recognition ou need to do navigate to the spoken address
in order to get lane guidance you will need to make sure tomtom unit is up to date by checking when connected to computer for updates you will also need a version 8 map that you will need to purchase from tom tom
As far as being able to tell if anyone is using your unit as a GPS receiver, no, there is no way to determine whether someone uses it. Unfortunately, if it was left behind, someone probably gave it away as a gift.
