Reverse the polarity on the trolling motor by taking the trolling motor apart and turning ithe motor housingt 180 degrees and bolt it back up. The polarity will be straight then. I did the same thing when I pulled the armature back in.

SOURCE: The Minn Kota trolling motor

Mine did the same thing and i think that it could be the relay under the switch cause i had power when i directly touched both neg. and pos. so i would diffently take a look at that.

SOURCE: Minn Kota Maxxum Trolling Motor

I had the same problems with my 70lb, my motor just quit while on the lake, took it to a minn kota service repair shop. I had two issues. One was the little magnet under the button on the foot pedal got recessed to far down, the tech told me if it happened again pop the button off and pull the magnet up some. Simple fix. I took it home put it back on the boat and nothing just a slight ticking noise heard from the pedal with no prop movement. So I thought maybe somethin was wrong with one of my batteries. Unhooked everything, tested both of them, all good. Even though there was hardly any corrosion, I clean everything, hooked it up and "WALLA"! Power! Problem solved, for now. Waitng to test again out on the lake

On a Minn Kota All Terrain trolling motor, what should the MOM/OFF/CON switch be set to when using the foot pedal manually?

You should only use the MOM (or momentary) setting when using the push button the foot pedal. Con will just keep the motor running and your foot control will only allow for direction and speed!

Minn kota trolling motor will turn to the rt. when i push the pedal down to turn to the left it goes half way and stops. the pedal will not go any further

Check for rocks or debris stuck in the pedal....
If not then pull the top cover on the motor and look at the pulley cable drum. Here's a schematic:

http://www.northlandmarine.com/MinnKotaQuickRef.htm

You need your serial number of the trolling motor, length of shaft, and thrust poundage.

or you could call Minn Kota direct and give them the same information at 800-227-6433.
