HP L7780 error on printing.

Printer has been acting insane for two days now. Initial problem was that it only printed half a page, and then would spew out several pages of wingdings. After trying to send several print jobs, it stopped printing altogether and started giving me this additional probelm.

The error code is B844FE5E. All the lights are flashing on the machine, with a command up to turn off and on the machine. The error occurs when I try to send a print job to the printer from my computer (the copier and fax still work just fine). HP's self-diagnostic tool says that there is a communication issue between the computer and printer, but all the cables appear to be connected correctly, and it was at least communicating partially before the error occurred.

Uninstall completely all of the software that came with unit and then reinstall it.

And HP customer service sucks - they will only help you out during the warranty period of their product.

SOURCE: Stop jobs keeps preventing print jobs

Windows is absoulty notorious in glitching any time it takes a notion. There is software out there that will prevent about 80% of it too. ( freebees ) I suggest first step go to add/remove programs, dleate the program for it ( software ) and re load it. Generally this cures probleums like re-booting your computer. If it's afeeding probleum, then the rollers need to be cleaned. I use denatured achol and quality "Q" tips. If printing is the probleum, the ports in the tank feeds ecome clogged from time to time too. Same senerio there-denaturd achol and quality "Q" tips.Denatured achol doese not leave behind any resedue like other types. If after all this it still doesn't co-operate, then replacement is in order. ( if warentee is deleated ) Dancer

SOURCE: crazy characters start to print when printing from pdf doc or certain websites

Hi,

I understand that the printer is printing garbage when you are trying to print from internet.

Please follow the below given instructions to resolve the issue.

This issue can occur if the data send from the application from which you are printing, is using the PC-8 character set. This will produce a smiley face or garbage charters each time an unsupported escape code is sent by application. To know the character set, please contact the manufacturer of the application.
Also, you can follow these steps to disable the power managment in the comoputer.
1. Right-click My Computer, choose properties
2. Click Hardware tab, click Device Manager button.
3. Click the + next to Universal Serial Bus Controller.
4. Right-click USB Root Hub, choose properties.
5. Click Power Management tab.
5. Uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device
to save power.
6. Click Ok.

If the issue persists, follow the instructions from the below given weblink to resolve the issue.

Here is the web document:

================

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=bpu01105&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&dlc=en&lang=en

================

Just copy and paste the entire link into the Internet browser's address bar and press enter.

This should resolve the issue.

Lawrence

Dear sir;I believe you can try " cold reset", that's means going to clear all data from the printer memory and sets all the defaults back to the factory settings.performing a "cold reset" resets the jetDireect configuraion. to avoid making changes to yourconfiguration, remove the jetDirect card before performing a cold reset. if possible, print a configuration page prior to performing a cold reset. this will document current settings for later reference.
to perform a cold reset;
1, turn off the printer.
2, while pressing "go", turn the printer on. COLD RESET appears briefly on the display, then INITIALIZING appears.after a few seconds, RESTORING FACTORY SETTING appears on the display, followed by OFFLINE.the cold reset is complete.
3, press "go" to return the printer online "ready " appearson the display.
Little bit complicated but is easy ,hope can take care your problem, GOOD LUCK! Let me know the resolve please!
HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY !!!

SOURCE: Printer prints partial page and then stops

We have had the same problem. I have found that if I close all windows not being used on the computer, then try to print the document again the entire document prints. This happens on an older computer we have that doesn't have alot of RAM.

SOURCE: HP 6280 Printer.

Well you definitely have a pc problem and not one of the printer. the printer just prints what it is sent and as you can print the alignment page that takes care of the printer.

You have reinstalled the driver but did you remove the old one first? I bet not. You should download the hp printer removal tool. Run it and after a restart then you can install the driver. Personally i would turn off the auto update feature as hp updates really mess things up.

I reckon after the reinstall the printer will be fine.

I am getting the following error code "00989C98" L7780

Hi this appears to be part of a generic problem possibly caused due to power surges…

As recommended by HP on these types of errors:

1: Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print a print job from the computer.

If this works, please grade the answer... If the steps don’t work I would recommend you check with HP.

L7780 won't print on edge of paper

it could be the printer settings. Before you actually print something go to File>print:- and then choose properties, click on advanced and ensure that the correct paper and size is set to how you want it.

My HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One keeps giving me the error message - Scanner failure - Turn power off then on. Turning power off then on, even disconnecting power cord, repeatedly does not solve problem.

Our HP Officejet L7780 displays the "Align Printer" message and then does it automatically wasting several sheets of paper aligning, then the next time we print a page the same message comes back. Is there a way to turn off the "align Printer" message. It is printing ok otherwise.

HP L7780 compatibilty to Windows Vista

Unplug cables blow them or use can air, if this is connected wireless, then try a hard connection with cables, if it is usb, get a tansfer cable. Also check the ink cartridges, too much ink on them replace them.

Printhead Problems

Since buying the L7780 printer for our business office two years ago, the printer has been a work horse for us. The problems I've seen online about scanning, paper jams and ink cartridge issues have been none existent. Then it was time to change the print head. The L7780 printed several pages before the print head error message appeared and the printer ceased printing. We tried all the solutions offered online including another print head and cartridges but to no avail. We were ready to buy a new printer. Then a member our team whom we dubbed “Service Tech 130” came up with the solution. Service Tech 130 simply pried the chips off both print heads with a screw driver and super glued the old chip onto the new print head. Now the printer has been working as if nothing was every wrong.
For this to work for those of you having the same problem, you would have to be in possession of the old print head that worked prior to the error. Attached is an image showing the location of the chip. Hope this works for you as it did for us.9101d4c.gif
