You need to turn over and remove the case to get to the motor. When you get to the motor you will see a white wire going to the motor from the switch,it has a white cover over the wire, pull this cover back and there is a small fuse that is probably blown. You can check this with a electrical tester. If this is not blown the heat sink that is connected to the fuse may be bad. These parts can be found at Radio Shack.

are you still around? I have the same problem with the unit not turning on and the cyclone not spinning; however the powerhead gets electricity and the brush spins. Could this mean the same solution (blown fuse?) or would it mean another problem? Thanks.

Fantom lightning vacuum model LC 51

You will need to contact a vacuum store. The Fantom company went bankrupt years ago and the parts are no longer available. As far as I know, these machines have not been on the market for a long time. I strip these units for any usable parts and hang on to them for this type of situation, but slowly, I've been throwing these parts out, as no one is asking for them. You should consider buying a new vacuum. Stay away from the big box store models. Your best option is to go to a vacuum store. They know what is the best unit for the price and any reputable store won't sell junk. Sorry, but your vacuum is at the end of it's road.
