First check if you get sound from the headphone jack.

Do you hear anything as the power comes on from the speakers..? A slight bump?

A lot of these dead audio things can be traced to a failure at the expression pedal. often these use a light dependent resistor and the illuminating lamp burns out. This is all down by the pedal.

Many of the Yamaha organs, including the FX20 I have, have circuitry that checks that the power amp has DC balance before a relay closes to connect the speaker. A failure in the amp can cause dead sound as well.

OK... That sounds like the relay that connects the speakers is not actuating.

On the FX20 Yamaha, (The HS6 is PROBABLY similar) this relay does the following:

It disconnects the speakers when headphones are plugged int. Hence, a failure in that switching circuit would disable the speakers.

It delays for a period determined by an RC timer before closing the relay to connect the speakers.

It monitors that the power amplifiers are in DC balance before connecting the speakers.

The key is to get a schematic for the organ. Yamaha USUALLY sells a complete service manual for $15 on CD rom for their instruments through the Yamaha parts people in California. It would be a good investment for you... The parts person usually transfers you to another person who fills the order.

The amplifiers in most of these organs are in the STK (Hybrid stick) type amplifiers. They are easily damaged so be careful when probing in the area.

Since the headphones are working OK, I kind of lean toward a failure of the relay timing circuit or a failure of the headphone jack switch.

I have a Yamaha Electone HS-6 which for some reason won't power on anymore.. is there somewhere I can look at to get it fixed? where should I be looking at fixing this? Fuse? power box maybe?

Yamaha has a service locator at I ran it and it came up with the exact place local to me I would have taken it to. I know their reputation and have had service done by them before with excellent results. Your organ's a pretty complex unit, so if I were you, I'd take it to a Yamaha recommended facility, after checking with Yelp.

I Have Yamaha Electone HS-4. I already changer a fuse but i have no sound. Someone said, for change a fuse, i must change also a transistor or condensator? Help please. Thanks. [email protected]

the problem is the main output amp. It is an IC so it is better left to a tech to put it in. Just had the same problem with mine. Seems to happen when unit is left on overnight.
