Alpine CDE 9870 Won't Eject Scratched CDs

My Alpine CDE 9870 only plays discs in perfect condition. If I place a CD in the player that has any scratch on it, it stops playing, I get an 'ERROR' message, and I can't get the CD to Eject. I usually have to power down the unit, and several hours to a day later, when I turn the unit back on and hold down the 'EJECT' button, it will come out. Is there a way to get it out sooner?

Sounds like it's overheating. Does this unit have a small fan in the back? If so, does it work, or is the airflow blocked? Also, you can get 'steam' on the disc when coming in or out of the cold with it.

Thanks everyone. I should clarify that the cds that will not play in the right hand tray (originals) are as pre-recorded by a record company; for example, an ABBA cd which I used to be able to play, I...

What does the lower surface look like? Does it have a lot of scratches or is it perfect? Many times the condition of the optical surface of the disc can affect the results you have. The disc is scratched can be polished. Burned disc only have about 70% of the output that a pressed disc has so sometimes you need to burn a new one.

Please check carefully the format the CD you burn. Your player should has at least same format or better to make it read the CDs.
For example standard dvd player will not able to read mpeg 4 CDs.

Alpine cde-9870 non-ipod mp3 player AUX FUNCTION

When you press the SOURCE/( ' ) button and select iPod as the source, make sure you turn on AUX+ so that the external device is used as the source. AUX+ is turned off when you want to use an iPod with this head unit.

I don't know why some people thought to answer your question with an answer based on a different model.

Why wont cds i make with my computer play on my alpine cde 7856????

OFTEN the CD's haven't been "finalized" by the computer which is needed for many of the players. If the program offers up the option to add further songs to the CD, it is NOT finalized.

You MIGHT also try using the "music" type CD's to record on... They are more expensive but Staples sells them.

Cd player not playing cds

Hello,

If your CD player isn't playing CDs anymore, its possible that the lens had reached its end of life. If your player is still kinda new, its possible that you need to have your lens cleaned. Get yourself a cheap cd lens cleaning kit and use it on your player.

I hope this helps. Thanks and have a nice day.

How to use MP3 on it

That model has a front-auxillary port on it.
Just purchase a cable online (http://www.yourcablestore.com/6-Foot-25mm-Stereo-Headphone-Cable-Male-Male_p_76.html) or in Walmart, BestBuy, etc.
When you get it, hook one end into the stereo and the other end to your MP3 player.
Set the Aux as the source and press Play on the MP3 player.
