Maytag model mtb1953ar refrigerator runs all the time and freezes everything in the refrigerator.

these tipe of units have an electronic board that controls basicly everything thats your problem you need to replace the electronic board. some times a temperature sensor wired to the elect. board fails but most of the time the board is the problem

Can you feel air moving or hear the fan running in the freezer section? You said the freezer section is freezing well, but is it freezing really hard?

I have the same model MC frig - 14 years old. There is only two electrical components; the compressor and the thermostat. Since the compressor is running and freezing, the thermostat must be stuck on. You need to replace the thermostat. My thermostat is also bad. I can't find one. One of the numbers on the thermostat is LR62862. Another is PFN-110U 02D. May be time for a new frig.

you need either a temperature control #66005516 or more probably a new auto damper # 61005989 they ar both in the back at the top of the fresh food section under the plastic slide control housing they are easy to replace be care ful and take your time disassembling and reassmbly will be much smoother.
go to apdepot.com and enter in the model number etc and you will se a blow up of the unit itself under controls.

Replace the cold control (off/on thermostat switch).

You will need to replace the control board, which controls the temperature in both compartments, refrigerator and freezer.
